I just saw a update about Natalie and the family. Good to hear of the progress being made. I guess life doesn't always go as we think it should and sometime if things are going well we expect more. Humans we are - always expecting more. i think your family is remarkable and accept things as they are better than the most of us.
We here in Iowa have had plenty of snow and cold weather. It has been a lonely winter for me without Bob. My kids have been remarkable to help me. Someone was with me most of the first three months. It seems it has been a constant signing of papers, phone calls and tears but I am adjusting as best I know how. Jim stops in often. He misses his Dad as we all do.
Jim's son, Matthew, is getting married next month in Florida so most of our family will be together for that. Right now Matthew is unemployed so we are praying that will change before too long.
Charlene called here the other day but I was gone so didn't have a chance to talk to her. It will soon be time for the great fish fries that the VFW have during Lent so should see her then.
Bob and I were in KC in late summer to attend a Royals game when they played Oakland. A former Xavier player plays for Oakland. We also came down when Iowa State played FB against K State. I am so glad we did that. We missed staying at the Marriott and seeing Tom though. I guess my days of doing those things are over.
Jim just left a short time ago and I better go to bed. Think of you often - I pray that things keep improving for all of you.

I am so sorry to hear about the incident with your dog. I am sure that is very hard on all of you. You all have came so far with all the test and trials you have been through in the last couple of years. What amazes me is that the more you all go through the closer you seem to pull together. If you can get any closer than you already are. I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy reading your updates. They make me laugh, they make me cry and they give me strength. It’s funny on how much I can relate to and know exactly what you mean.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

What a beautiful up date, Tom…certainly not a better time to receive it. God’s blessings to all of you and Happy Thanksgiving. I will remember you in prayer
as we thank God for blessings great and small.
You are finding your way through daily activities. In those moments are life’s joy. I think that fish had a destiny to provide you that happiness. Good for Nat!!! I think of you often, and I hope the power of prayer from family and friends has been healing to you all. Tom and Nancy, Natalie is lucky to have you…as you know, how lucky you are, to have her.Love, Karen Mason Louk

Hello Natalie,
Though we do not know each other, I have gotten to know you well. It was through accident that I came across your website, but am glad that I did. I am very glad to know that you are in good spirits and have overcome obstacles, big enough for a normal person to fail. I am sure that you have done this through the prayers of all your loved ones. Get well soon.
Keeping you in prayers,
Naveen, Germany
It was so wonderful to read about Natalie's summer- from both Nancy's and Laura's reports. We love all of you!

I finally got to read the updates about your family. I did think you had taken time out from doing this but now know that you still do it periodically. It does take time to do all of the writing but everyone is so glad to hear about Natalie's progress. Your family is amazing!!! Char shared with us the good news of your award for Family of the Year. No one could be more deserving of this award. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!
We are looking forward to Spring. I know that should have happened already but it seems like we have only had a few nice days. However everything is green and the flowers are trying to show their color but they along with the rest of us would like some warmer weather.
Keep the Faith and know that you are thought about often by us and so many others. Love and Prayers from the R.Erushas in Iowa

Tom, and family...I was so moved when I read about your family's receiving the 2009 Jackson County Family of the Year. Clearly I know you would have wished to never be in the running for such recognition...but it is heartwarming to see what you and your family have accomplished for Natalie. I have thought of you so often and am glad you have received such a wonderful outpouring of support. I will bookmark the site so I can keep apprised of her progress...I read the entry from Nancy on April 13 and, of course, it touched me.
Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Judy Sherry

Dear Nancy,
My Tom really enjoyed seeing your Tom! Gosh, the years do fly by, don't they?
This morning's Orlando Sentinel featured the article I am sending you. Maybe you can make a trip this way and I can see you while you are here? http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/orl-bizdizdevice16041609apr16,0,2498532.story
Love you!
Melanie
I just saw the article of you all being selected Blue Springs Family of the Year. How fitting and wonderful is that. You all could have won that honor prior to Natalie's accident, but since then you have certainly exemplified the true meaning of "Family" in every way possible. We are all so proud and honored to have you all as friends. With nice weather quickly approaching, we need to plan some gatherings. Again, congratulations on an honor so very much deserved.

Hi Tom,
My name is Asim Khalid and I used to work at the Marriott in Kansas City. As a matter of fact, you hired me in 1998. I was a catering manager. I heard about Natalie from a friend from Marriott and saw the website too. Just wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. I remember meeting Natalie a few times at the Marriott with you and Nancy. She was always so full of energy and a bright young lady. I haven't read all the updates on the website but I'm sure she is progressing well and doing better now.
Please give my regards to Nancy. She is a brave person and an example for parents all over the world.
Best Regards and God Bless You
Asim Khalid
Hi Nancy,
Scott Young
The next time you have an “80 pounder” with a lot of energy you will have to bring them over for a swim. I know our lab loves the water and sleeps well at the end of the day.
Hang in there. I think of you and your family often.

Hi Natalie,
Damon and I want to come over and visit you and see how you are doing. We've kept up with your progress over your website.
We are thrilled you are making so much progress!! Sounds like the changes you are seeing is exactly what the Sensory Learning Program is supposed to do.
Please let us know when we can come by.
You go girl!
Love ya,
Patti and Damon
Nancy,
My name is Beth Podgurski. My daughter, Kristen is Laura's age, and my son, Bryan is Natalies age I believe. We were at Oakdale together...I even came to your house for an ornament exchange one Christmas!
Our dear friend, Cindy, just called and told me about Natalie. I've logged onto the website and started reading from the beginning...since I'm at work, I fast forwarded some, but I plan to go back and read it all. Bless your hearts...what strength you all have.
Just know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.....I will continue to read the website and keep you in my heart.
I've attached a recent pix of Kris & Bryan (he was friends with Billy & Terry)
With love,
Beth
This note is from the Feltner Family today I received my annual Schneider Christmas card something I missed last year now I know why. I logged onto the Natalie Schneider website I have been on this site for the last 5 hours reading from start to present. I cried and I laughed and I could picture Nancy doing everything she did to help her daughter get through this tragedy in her life. I pictured Max with his loving nature being there and caring for his sister in the manner I have seen before. I can see Laura there also taking care of not only Natalie but Nancy because she has a lot of her mother in her. Derek I remember as being a soft person with a lot of emotion and love he would have been a comfort for Nancy also. As for Tom he has always been and always will be Nancy’s rock but I know this has been a hard time for him also. Natalie I read in your blog in the beginning Laura stating that she still can see her sister well I see you also in your determination to over come all that God has but in your path. I read where you told your mom she was driving like s--- I can hear you saying that. I wish I knew about your accident sooner I would have been there for your Mom and I would have read each and every blog as they were posted. I know you have a long road still to come but you are a survivor and your family will be there for you every step of the way. Nancy you have not changed a bit I know this has been one of the hardest years of your life but it has been also been a year filled with miracles and love. I know Natalie has a long road ahead of her but the worst is over and the new adventures are beginning. Think of it a Natalie’s New Adventures.
Love always from down south,
Cindy Feltner Plauche’
We think of you all often. I talk to Colin about Derek whenever I see him. We are always praying for all of you and miss seeing you once in a while. From the Hoener- Miller family. We say hello and all the best. Love - greta
Hi Nancy!
It was nice to read your latest update. I think I have kept up with all of them. It really helps to read these and know what to continue to specifically pray for your family. You and your family continue to amaze me. You are such an example of family and strength. I'm glad you and Natalie are not slowing down :) Mike started his new job in Pennsylvania here at Crayola. If you ever come north-come stay with us-you, the kids, or all!! We are an hour away from New York, and a couple hours from Washington DC.
Just letting you know, I think of you often and I love you guys!!

You have had far more water under the bridge than we have. But, we should get together and talk. A companion dog might be right for Natalie. I’ll leave that to you and Lea Ann (my daughter with 12 labs in her basement)
This recent update let me know Tom’s heart difficulty. I am on a bank board and we are about to foreclose on a hotel. It might be an opportunity for him. If he’s interested, he should call my cell below.
What a wonderful job you have done with what seems an insurmountable challenge.
Bless you.

Schneider Family ----- Thanks for the updates Nancy. I appreciate your persistence. Thanks for the info on Tom----- keep after him, we love him but he can be a bit of a pain in the ass. They do some amazing things with heart arrythmia issues these days; it's not unusual to have an episode or two and the corrections will come. You both have had so much on your plate lately that at some point we misfire. Hold your ground ------ this too will work its way out. Looks as if Natalie has been keeping busy with continuing projects and pushing the learning curve--- what drive she exhibits--- kudos to the you, Tom and your children for the SPIRIT. If you need me, I'm here, just let me know. From cold Iowa--- My Regards, Jim Erusha

Each one of you, your extended family and wonderful friends’ love for each other, strength and power to move forward has touched many of us out here in ways you will never know. Natalie, your struggles and successes have impressed upon us to challenge ourselves to become better people to make you proud of us to be part of you and your family’s circle.

Nancy,
Your friends need to thank you for sharing your journey with us the past year. I'm certain that it was difficult yet, I know it provided you with a form of therapy that you needed. You are truly blessed to be a member of the Schneider/Rowan/Saunders family -- many never have the opportunity to experience this type of love and support. The Christmas of 2008 was a "modest" holiday for many of us this year, not just the Schneider family, but perhaps that is not all bad. Christmas may have been right under our nose for many years but we have been too wrapped up in the "gifts" to see it's true meaning. I know you are not a big reader but Brian gave me Glenn Beck's book The Christmas Sweater as a gift this year. I am on page 229 of 284 and can understand why this book is on the best seller list this holiday season. Give it a read or listen to it on tape if you have some time. I know we don't see each other often, but thank you again for including me in your journey. Yes, keep the Schneider family blog going and know that your friends love you!
Wishing you the best in 2009,
Leslie Tullis

Dear Nancy,
I want to write to you specifically. I would say you're the unsung hero in your family's struggles, and in Natalie's recovery process, but multitudes seem to sing your praises - and should. Has it been a year now? Tragedies are dates I don't mark, but I know it's about that long... I know we talk, but I wanted to write because you're "finishing" with the website - and that effort, all this time, I will mark. It is particularly inspiring and amazing to me because I know that behind the courage and optimism, underneath the flurry of activity and gratitude, there also exists great pain and grief and loss. You Schneiders - and especially you - are all the more heroic and inspiring, not because you don't have all those feelings that we "normal" people have, but because you do have them and you make the decision, every single day to find grace and joy in life, in Natalie, and in each other. I know you don't always succeed, but you always try - and that is what truly inspires.
There seems to be an equal ripple effect: the one of Natalie's tragedy and all the lives that have been wounded along with hers - and the one of all of your triumph that has inspired, brought your family closer, brought our greater family closer and built an even stronger bond. When life calls on us to step up, pettiness has a way of falling away, leaving only what really matters.
When Mamma was dying she told me that "the most important thing is forgiveness". The morning after she was gone that statement caused me to panic. I got hysterical because I could no longer ask her, "forgive what?", "forgive who?" Had I done something wrong that needed forgiving? Had she? What did she mean? And then it came to me: it was everything. Forgive it all - every event, every person, ourselves, everything. Surrender to what is. Embrace it because it is Truth. That's what you've done. What you've all done. Thank you for that.
All my love,
Cynthia
Dear Natalie, Nancy, Tom, Max, Derek, and Laura,
What wonderful progress Natalie has made in a year! The strength of your family is truly inspiring. I was sad to hear that the progress notes will stop; natalieschneider.net was has been an ever-present tab in my internet browser for a year now. However, I know that this means that your lives have wonderful new things to come! All my love and wishes for continued blessings to your family. We all wish you the best of things and would love to see you soon. Happy Holidays to you all!
With love,
Melissa Zarych (and the entire Zarych Family)

Natalie and Nancy,
I am so proud of the growth you have both made as individuals and as a family. I have to selfishly admit that I will miss reading the blogs and updates about Natalie. I do understand that it has been quite a challenge to keep up and do routinely. I know that you all will take care of eachother and I hope to have our paths cross again in the future.
Natalie,
Every time that I look at Lucas ( who's 31/2 yrs now), I think of you. You were with me the night that I discovered I was pregnant and you were my fill in at work when he was born. I don't know if I ever said " thank you" for that night. Thank you for the help and hope you have given!
Love,
Kelly Mayo ( Raphael co-worker )

I will miss hearing your updates re: Natalie. I know it is time consuming for you and we will keep everyone in our prayers. Tom, perhaps you could email Jim or call him when time permits for any changes that are happening both in your work life and progress that is occurring for Natalie. She has come such a long way that I can't imagine there is not more progress yet to come.
Blessings to you all. I feel I know your family well even when I haven't met any of you except Tom. May there be better days upcoming.
Love, Arlene Erusha

Nancy,
I will miss the updates but I understand. I would like to tell you how proud I am of Nat’s incredible recovery. You’re truly blessed. You and your family have shown amazing strength and I applaud you. Tell Nat I Miss her hope to have her visit school one day so we can have lunch. She knows how much I cared for her when she was here at BSHS. I have received the updates via email since the beginning and have read the ups and down’s faithfully. If you ever wondered how valuable your posts have been, don’t, they have kept me in the loop and I appreciate that.

I will miss getting your emails. I don’t really know your family although I do work at the Marriott and knew Tom. I have enjoyed so much getting the news on how well Natalie is doing. It truly is a miracle and she is so lucky to have a family such as yours. I feel I really do know you from all the stories you have shared.
I will keep Natalie and your family in my prayers. You all deserve the very best and I sure you will have it.
Again, thank you so much for sharing your stores with everyone. I miss them.

Hey Nancy, just wanted to shoot you a quick note telling you how the frequent updates on Natalie's blog really inspire me. It is so encouraging how far she has come and how hard she works. And not to mention how strong you have been through all of this. As the holidays are coming upon us, please know your family is in my thoughts and that I still pray for you all even now after it has been almost a whole year. You all have definitely gone through one of the hardest years of your lives, and of anyone else I know. Yet you not only keep chugging on, but you try you enjoy every moment of it and make the best out of it all. Please give everyone in your family a big hug for me, and hopefully I will get a chance to visit while I am home for the holidays!!
God Bless,
Vanessa Starke
It appears that I forgot to send my email address when I sent my message to you. Email me any time and I am so happy to hear that you are able to continuing swimming over the winter and what an amazing opportunity this 12 day trial is. Good luck and I wish you the best. To the whole family, I wish you an amazing Thanksgiving. You have so much to be thankful for. God Bless you all.

Nancy and Tom..... How about audio books? I have some from our Friends of the Library sale that I thought Natalie might enjoy. Is she ready for that? One is an Alexander McCall Smith novel and I love him.
My son's first novel was just published! It is a really fun read. Would you read it to her? BEING WRITTEN by William Conescu!
Also tell me about these pens Natalie is making? Are they for sale?
Hang in.... Mother-love doesn't need sight... and I know she feels it all.

Dear Natalie and the rest of the Schneider family,You may not remember me as you have interacted with so many new faces over the last 10 months. My name is Tiffany and when Natalie was admitted to the Rehab unit at KU Med I was a student nurse and I was so honored to be able to help care for her. I was able to learn from her, your whole family and the experience itself. Nancy and Tom you have raised amazing children. I have 3 children myself and if my children can grow to be adults with such kindness, compassion, and dedication as your children; I will be a happy mother. When I began working with Natalie I felt and instant bond with her. I still don't know why, but my heart opened to her instantaneously like never before with a patient. I saw the love from the family around her and was amazed. I didn't feel that throughout much of my life so what a touching experience for me so see your family crowded together in such desperate times, showing how much you loved each other and would support each other. I know everyone wishes that the experience could have different, but it has happened and you have made the best of it. You are all absolutely one of the strongest families I have ever met in my life and I want to say Thank You for not only allowing me to work with Natalie, what an amazing girl; but to see your family in action and learn from you and take that experience home for my own family. You have all been through very rough times and you are continuing on the path of recovery. Your walks, your trips on the boat, dealing with vomit in the car, daily trips to school, Callaway Gardens (which I heard about the whole time at KU!), football games, and so many other wonderful things your family has still been able to do. You are all such strong people and you have made it through so much more than many people will ever endure and you will make it through anything else that God may throw your way. He allows everything to happen for a reason, even if we don't know why in the moment. Nancy, God bless you for having such a huge quantity of love and dedication to your children. Tom, God bless you for being such a determined and loving father. All of the kids, God bless you for loving each other so much and being there for Natalie when she needed you the most. Nancy I'm glad you may finally have some down time for yourself and Tom I hope that the job search is going well. Mariott lost more than you did.
And to Natalie: You have been a pure inspiration in my life on so many different levels since the moment I first met you. I worked with you for only 6 weeks but everyday I was at KU you brought a smile to my lips like I'd never had before. You showed me that no matter what obstacle is in front of me, I must go through it and I can go through it. Nothing is too big. You made it through the biggest obstacle ever with few complaints. You changed my view on life as a whole Nat. Your experience touched me and in turn touched so many other people as well. You are probably the strongest woman I have ever met in my life and I am so thankful that I got to spend the little time I did with you. I'm blessed I was allowed to come visit after I was done with my rotation. Thank you for sharing so much of your life with me. Your schools, your cars, your favorite foods, talking about Callaway Gardens, your family. Thank you for allowing me in. You are a true inspiration and I wish you the best of luck in any endeavor in your life. I'm so proud to know you and your family. Continue to make such huge strides and improvements. I have been following along with your updates and you are doing amazing. You look so beautiful and so refreshed in your recent pictures. Especially the one of you on the mountain. You were on Top Of The World! Keep up the good work and if you ever need someone to talk to or gossip with send me a message or give me a call. I'm a phone call away and I would love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Tiffany Vannattan
P.S. I finished school...I'm a nurse now! Thank you for giving me the motivation I needed to keep going and finish even when it got tough.

Looking out at the beautiful leaves (soon to be picked up) one wonders how there can be so much turmoil in our lives and the entire nation, May we continue to pray for better days ahead and look into our lives and see that there is hope and love around us. You have certainly showed us how to deal with our small disappointments in relation to all of yours.
It is good to see that Natalie shows improvement and finds fun and laughter with her family even as she endures pain. Hopefully Tom has some leads for employment and that it would let you remain in K.C. where so many good doctors are and that you have become comfortable with.
Tom -we will miss seeing you if we continue to come down to BB tournaments in K.C. Of course with Bob and my ages we do find it harder to do some of what we always did so that trip may end too. If for some reason that you would email us - my email is now czechmom7@aol.com - however Bob's is still the same it is just that he is more interested in looking at his stock portfolio than reading his emails so they get pretty old sometimes. If you did not bring your emails with you as you left the Marriott - Bob's email address is - rerusha@aol.com I know you made the Marriott a better place and worked hard at your job. This was their loss.
I'm sorry I made this in to a letter instead just as a note to let you know that we do think of you. Jim and Denise are still spending time as flood workers at Charlene's. I hardly see or talk to them since they are busy with work etc. too but are o.k. I guess.
Keep looking forward as we can not change the past Love from Cedar Rapids, Arlene and Bob Erusha

Just read your latest message about your trip. What a whirlwind for you but it must have been so consoling to have so many friends and family with you! You are amazing with everything you do for Natalie and others. We think of you often and pray that much progress continues. Tom - are you staying in KC?
Love to you all Arlene Erusha

Natalie,
Sounds like you have been really busy and doing some really fun stuff. The climb to the mountain was great! I'm not sure I could have made it that far. Just wanted you to know that we always remember you and think of you in prayers. John is active in the Air Force and seems to really like it. Lindsey is full-time college and working part-time, so her schedule has been really tight. Just wanted you to know you look great and keep up the great work.
I wish you many blessings and we love you.

Nancy, I heard about Natalie's accident from Elizabeth (Linn) in my Sunday School class here in Winter Park, Florida. Since then I have been following her remarkable progress. I must say that your powerful spirit is evident in everything that I read. It is clear that you and Tom have raised some wonderful children who are now helping you through this ordeal. Someone once told me that when the day-to-day progress is so negligible as to be discouraging, then you must look back six weeks and compare the progress over a longer period. If you have to learn that lesson then you are going through a hard time! I can see from today's update that you have, indeed, figured it out. Natalie is terribly lucky to have you and Tom as her parents. I will continue to pray for faith and strength for you and your family. There is incredible power in prayer. Keep the faith. Peggy Bradley
Has it been this long since I've written? We really have not totally forgotten you and do include all of you in our prayers. It sounds like you are as busy as ever but also I read that Natalie is improving all of the time. It may seen slow at times but as you look back each month I know there is much to be thankful for. Keep up the good work Natalie - your family is amazing and will always be there for you.
It was surprising to read that Tom is no longer with the KC Marriott. Probably Jim and Denise have heard that from Charlene because they spend much time at her house. It is coming along but I am sure she too thinks it is not fast enough. Anyway, I will tell them about your change of plans and we will add you to our prayer chain to find work for Tom and may it be what he loves. He certainly gave KC all he had.
Thinking of you Arlene Erusha

Hey Nancy,
I read all of the updates and NEVER feel that you are a downer. If HE brings you to it, HE will bring you through it. I will say some prayers for you and your family and ask for a job for Tom. Remember you were created to be loved and you are. Ask and you shall receive. Hope to see you soon.

Hi Nacy & Tom: Dear God, here we are and there is anothrer hurricane and Marc has to be at Anderson next weekend. We found him a place in Baton Rouge to stay but we are going to Boston and I feel so bad I cant think about leaving him to go to Houston without me. How do we let our kids go on without us. I know you are so much more involved because Natalie needs you and Marc doesn't need us on a daily basis. We look at your progress report all the time and I truely feel for you all. We love you all and think of you all the time.
Marc is doing good, so far, he has been going to MD Anderson and having a new medicine that is an alternative medicine and he seems to be doing a good job at managing it. We will see.
We think of you all, and thank you for your wonderful gift to Marc

Leaps and bounds are made with a lot of love, prayer and blessings. There obviously has been lots and lots of leaps and bounds for Natalie and the rest of you Schneider characters. I am so happy and proud for Natalie (and her family), you all have worked hard to get Natalie where she is at but all that energy and motivation comes from the strength and love within the Schneider family. What a testimonial you all are to courage, strength, commitment and love. I am so happy that God has allowed me to get to know your tremendous family. Keep up the outstanding work Natalie, you are a blessing!!!!! I so enjoy reading about your leaps, bounds and courage!!!
The Randol Family
Hey Schneider Family. Another school year before us. A lot of stuff. Good luck to all you returning to school and Max good luck with your last year. I have an empty nest as well. Maura moved to Mississippi to go to school at Gulfcoast Junior College. She has a roommate from Blue Springs – a friend she has known since 8th grade. They will be roommates down there. Derek – look out for her down there! Colin moved to St. Louis to help take care of his grandfather. I am very happy that he has enrolled in school at Meramec Community College. My mom is also in St. Louis so he can help her as well. Emily is still working at Worlds of Fun as an Account Executive. She does not like the working outside part of it. I am encouraging her to get her resumes out there – get out there in the world. And I am back at James Walker to start another year of teaching elementary art. I am also doing a lot of art work on the side. My house is for sale at the lake – but no bites except from fish and mosquitoes.
I think about you all often happy you have touched out lives. God is good – love - Greta
I was pleased to read that you had a wonderful vacation. Hopefully you even found time for yourself Nancy and maybe got a little well deserved rest. I hope Natalie's latest procedure went well.
Cedar Rapids is slowly cleaning up after the flood. Denise and Jim are continuing to help Charlene out with her house so that it can again be home for her.
Take care and know that we continue to remember you all.

Dear Schneiders,
It was inspiring to be with you at Callaway this year. From this point going forward is where we all are and to see how you as a family are so loving and supportive of each other was awesome! Natalie reminds us all of our struggles and our need to be brave and to move forward with hope. She seems to take each moment as it comes and to do the best she can. I loved being with her in the pool especially as she swam back and forth between Tom and me. She is so alive and so present and so easy to love! I look forward to spending more time together this Fall.
Love, Aunt Susan
Nancy, Tom, Nat, Lu, Max, D,
They say no matter where you go, you return changed. We've all been to Callaway for years, we've all come to know it as "ours" and the stability it offers is remarkable. I've never felt such positive energy (and change) leaving as I did this year - I believe in the healing power of tears and even now, almost a week later, I think of Callaway and I am speechless. It's not only Natalie that changed me, it's not just the Schneiders, it's everyone who was there. I have finally begun to feel like a real part of our big family and I owe this so much to you, Nat, and all of you who've shown me that, often, blood IS thicker than water.
Vaya con Dios, all my love,
Jessica Kennedy (Natalie's cousin)
Nancy, I always enjoy getting your updates on Natalie. I know this has been overwhelming at times and you have to take one step at a time. I think Natalie might enjoy having a service dog at some point in time. The dog would offer a lot of companionship for her. Mary Kinart
Nancy,
You don't know me, but I am a friend of Becka and Billy's and have watched Natalie's progress from the very beginning. I've "lurked" on the updates because I didn't want to intrude. Mostly because of what you've said in your latest post: "It is difficult sometimes to be so public with what has happened to our family", and I'm sensitive to "who the heck IS this person??"
I decided to finally write you because, with every update, it gives me an enormous amount of hope and gratitude - a couple of things that tend to often get lost in the shuffle of my life. The obvious love and care you have for your children and your family reminds me to be grateful and patient every day with mine. (I have three boys...lots of times patience and gratitude is superceded by "YOU DID WHAT??!!")
I think of Natalie often, and am often astounded on the progress you report. Also, I think of your family. And how wonderful it is that you all have found a way through this through your closeness. One never knows what they can endure, but you all have been an example of how to do it.
I wish you all the best, and say "GO NATALIE!"

Tom and Nancy:
I just wanted to drop a note and let you know Jesse and I are keeping up on
Natalie’s recovery. She is an inspiration to anyone who reads the entries….
And you two are amazing parents.
Jesse hasn’t found a new job yet. I was feeling low about it today and got On Natalie’s website. I realized I have nothing to feel low about….. we take Advantage of good health and happy children. Jesse will find something Fabulous that hopefully will keep him home more with the family.
Thank you for everything you taught him Tom. He thinks the world of you!
All the best to your family and hopefully our paths will cross again soon!

Dear Nancy,
I am a friend of big sister Sarah's. I heard about Natalie almost as soon as her accident happened and I am so sorry that your family has had to undergo such a devastating experience. Only now am I moved to write because after all this time, it almost feels as if I know you.
I have always seen the tremendous goodness and genorosity of spirit that is within Sarah. I have had the true pleasure of meeting Daddy a few times and was so impressed by his joie de vivre. I was also quite taken with sister Cynthia's creativity. But the qualities that run through the three of them -- honesty and strength of character -- seem to be multiplied in you. As the months have gone on, your lovingkindness, your giving optimistist faith, your humor in the face of great adversity, has shone through the pages of Natalie's site like a beacon for all to see. You truly are an inspiration and a light for every one of us that has watched Natalie's progress over these months.
Please know that we are all connected and that your struggle does not go unnoticed. I would like to offer these few simple words as a small gesture of support for you as you make your way along a path of life you would never have willingly chosen. But through it all, your unwavering love and devotion has beamed its way through. Natalie's progress has been nothing short of amazing, and there is no way it could have happened without the stremgth, love and support of a mother such as yourself.
With love,
Lynne Oxhorn-Ringwood
Just wanted you to know I'm thinking about and praying for your family.

Natalie Schneider and Family,
You don't know me, we're not related, at least I don't think so.
My name is Meg Schneider and I have a daughter named Natalie Schneider. I 'googled' her name and found the link to your website. And I was moved by your story. I know Schneider is a common last name, but Natalie is not as common. I feel there must be some connection between our Natalies. My Natalie is 6 1/2, starting 1st grade in the fall. I wish I could send you some of her energy in hopes it will help with recovery. But since no one has found a way to bottle a child's youth and energy, I offer you prayers instead.
As a week old baby, my Natalie was back at the hospital due to loss of consciousness they blamed it on low blood sugar after 7 days of testing and finding nothing. At 6 weeks she was diagnosed as failure to thrive. At 6 months she couldn't sit up or even roll over due to low muscle tone and torticollis in her neck. We started PT, OT and cranialsacral therapy (voo doo as we called it). Today she rides a bike, climbs the rock wall in the back yard and swings around on the monkey bars like all other 6 year olds. She is a fighter, she overcame her physical challenges.
I'm sharing the story of my Natalie because I know that your Natalie will overcome the obstacles that were put in front of her as well. They are strong, they are fighters and God is watching over her, just as he watched over mine.
I'm not a nut, or weirdo but I believe everything happens for a reason. I found your website for a reason. I don't know if it's to provide more prayer, give hope, or just to be one more person cheering for your Natalie.
Lastly, if you haven't heard of cranialsacral therapy, you should look into it. It's a form of OT that's very easy on the body that is beneficial for people that have gone through some sort of physical trauma. You can visit www.Upledger.com for more information. I believe Dr. Upledger is the leading instructor in the field or he developed it, not sure. We did this form of therapy with our Natalie and saw tremendous benefit.
Many Blessings to you. I look forward to the updates on your site.

Natalie and All: Just a note because that's about all I'm good for. Sounds like you don't let your MOM get on her high horse too often. She can be be demanding but that's why WE love her so dearly. Denise[my other 1/2] talked to your Aunt Charlene two days ago, tough deal with all the flood water here in Cedar Rapids--- she's got a cellphone now and is weighing some other options-- we will try to lend a hand. Thanks for all the UPDATES on the internet-- I read them all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always Jim Erusha
Nancy,
I am so glad to hear that Natalie is doing so well. That's fantastic. Your family is so strong! I will continue to keep all of you in my prayers as well as your sister-in-law. We need to get together soon. Miss you all.
Tatum
I have not sent a message recently but still want you to know we do think of all of you often and pray that Natalie is progressing well. Each day must bring new things for her and for you to watch. Your family is amazing as they show their love to each other and take what each day offers them.
We thought of Charlene and Jim wondered if she was O.K. but now I hear the water did reach her house. It is something no one could ever imagine that the water reached her area. Looking at the streets lined with what was once everyone's personal accumulations is unfathomable. Where do they start?
Thinking of you
Arlene Erusha
Dear Natalie and Family,
Just a note to say 'thanks for the updates', I especially love hearing about the outings, baseball and 12th/vine, what fun. I can imagine you Natalie enjoying the distractions and becomimg stronger with each. Be sure to get your vitamin D with 20 min. of sunshine everyday and smile, it makes people wonder, (my mom use to tell me that). I'm sorry to hear of aunt Charlene in Iowa and will send prayers her way as well, let me know if I can ever be of more help, sincerely, barbara russell.

Hi, Schneiders,
You are awesome, one and all. I will never that Tom said to Natalie that this happened to all of us. Believe me you are examples of strength, love, and support to all of us, too. I think about you so often and am so inspired by your finding what is progress and what is good under such stressful conditions. I am certain that you all have your moments, as well you should, but it is clear that love is stronger than anything else. Happy Mother's Day and Happy Father's Day to you all!
Fondly,
Lisa Conescu
Hi Schneider Family! It is so great to read how Natalie is doing. Nancy 'thanks' for all the encouraging updates. I have chatted with Tom and he has filled me on a Dads point of view. You can hear it in his voice the deep feelings and excitement of the progress of Natalie. It is nice to have the kids home and the added noise and the food bill!!Hope you are feeling better Nancy. It doesn't want to quite raining here in Iowa!! Love You All aunt charlene

Dearest Nancy,
Your updates continue to be so wonderful, and I can just hear your sweet, sweet voice reading your words to me. Please know that all of you continue to be in all of our prayers. Katie is home for the summer, and we were talking the other day about how cool it will be when you all take a trip down here to Orlando. Not that we thought it was on your radar soon, but one of these days. These folks have found Magical ways to make every trip wonderful for Every member of Every family.
Hug yourself for me!

Nancy,
Your update is beautiful! Just beautiful! Thanks...if is so nice to hear it first hand from YOU! Everyone has done a great job over the last 5+ months and now it feels so right for you to take a turn.
Aunt Jo and Jean's visit sounds sweet and fun. And that Mamma-connection shines through them thankfully.
I watched Steel Magnolias the other day and thought of us 6 sisters and understood the title in a whole new light. Strong southern women are us! Especially you. Nancy, you are our hero...our Sally Field!
Jessica and I will see you in early June sometime.
Loving you always!
Becka
Nancy,
We think of you all often, but especially last night. We were watching the episode of Extreme Home Makeover. The story evolved around a family that the dad was in an accident with what seemed like injuries similar to Natalie. You would have been pleased to see his progress. There may be some good resources to be found out of their story.Continue your remarkable journey, as always yell of you need anything, we hate to bother you

Dear Natalie,
this is barbara russell from the marriot and I'm so sorry I missed you when you came in to eat. This little attachment funny just tickled me and I've repeated to everyone at work here and there and just thought I'd share it w/you, you were always nice and listened to my antics. I praised the Lord the day you came home from the hospital, i'm so happy your out of there. I'd love to get together anytime for a visit or you can call me at 1-800-854-1264 anytime, i have lots of other funny e-mails. ha. but, i'm very proud of your courageous and kind spirit and keep it in your head that your stuggles are temporary, just like the hospital and God loves you a whole, whole, whole lot.
05/12/08
You are amazing. I know this has changed your life forever as well as Tom and the kids. You all are working so hard to make the best of this diffucult situation, especially Natalie!
In some ways it has changed us all. I think about you often. It's always in the back of my mind. Not a day goes by when I don't think about all of you and how hard this must be for you but also how courageous and undeterred you have been.
I look forward to being together again in a couple of months if Natalie is able to travel or, if not, we'll have to move Callaway to KC this year!
Love, Jon
PS: I've learned some new songs for us on the guitar.
Just wanted you to know the Oddo’s think, talk and pray for you often. Hope all is going well and everyone is having a great day!

And for Nancy, I guess....
I loved hearing from you, Nancy. You feel so much and write so well. The first hand description from you is a gift! Thanks.
Especially while I'm covered up with Shooting Stars! Next week I'll be back to our several-times-a-week phone calls, but for now I'm missing you tremendously.
We'll catch up soon. Tell Natalie I love her and that Jessica and I will see her sometime in early June.
Love you,
Becka
Nancy,
My name is Martha Gussoni, I am the sister of Sarah’s husband, Jerry Hodge. I have been reading the posts regarding Natalie and her wonderful family since she suffered this terrible turn in her life.First let me say how very sorry I am that you and your family, especially Natalie, have had to endure such a terrible hardship. Watching a loved one go through such hard times; I know we experienced the same thing when my mother suffered a devastating stroke. I know all I wanted to do was to make it all go away and fix whatever was broken. My brother, I believe, suffered the most…he is a very caring man and his mother was the light of his life.
I am sure that there are times that you just feel like running as far away as you can get….just know that it is okay to feel that way. When I read your last post I could hear and feel the frustration and exhaustion you are experiencing. This is not an easy situation to live with…do not beat yourself up for having a difficult time dealing with your feelings.
Natalie has made great improvement since her accident in a relative short amount of time. She has shown and inner strength and courage that amazes everyone that has read about her progress. Yes, it is very sad that Natalie can no longer look at the beautiful sunsets, but one day she will remember them and see them in her dreams. She has many obstacles to overcome, understood, but I believe in miracles. I believe one day she will overcome many of the issues she now faces.
I just wanted you to know that the raw emotions of your post touched my heart. I am sure you know how many people are praying for you and your family…..even those you do not know.
I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Martha Gussoni
“Never give up, Never give in”
Dear Nancy and family,
I have been reading your updates since December and haven't written but you have been in my thoughts and prayers. I anxiously await news from your e-mails concernng Natalies progress. I know you are going thru many emotions at this time as you learn what challenges face your family in the future. This has been a very stressful time for your family. It sounds like you have dealt with it very well. It is very difficult to see your child face difficulties and feel like you can do little to help. I say prayers often for myself and my son. Austin is a senior this year at Blue Springs South. It has been a very challenging year. We have had numerous problems with medications. Austin has many challenges the biggest are Aspergers (a form of Autism), ADHD, Anxiety, BiPolar disorder, sleep apnea, dysgraphia, and allergies. We have been working with Voc Rehab for about a year on job assessment, job search, etc. Austin is currently getting job training and has a job coach that the school district is providing, he has been with Goodwill on 7 hwy since February. We feel pretty certain this is going to turn into paid employment for him. I would never have dreamed he would be successful at this site. He has gone to Fort Osage CTC the last 2 years and has received training on personal computer hardware and would love to get a job working on PC's. He is going to take the certification test before the end of the school year. He does not drive and may never because of fear.. I often feel we take one step forward and two backward. But I am very determined to continue to push forward. I am at the point where I am putting together contingency plans, we have filed for disability, which I hope he may not need. Because it takes so long to get approval and you often have to appeal I felt we should start the process. We were hoping Austin could take some classes at Longview, he was able to do the A+ program. We have experienced some challenges with Longview and have been directed to check into Penn Valley, we have an appointment next week with them.
Nancy, be strong as I know you are. It is so very important that you act as your daughters advocate. She needs her family and is so lucky to have a brother and a sister who care so much for her. Take one step at a time and celebrate how far you have come. It is very easy to get discouraged when you are overwhelmed and worried. Take a little time for yourself. Go to a movie, go out to eat, etc. I encourage you to join a support group with other families who have faced these same challenges. I would guess there are online sites and perhaps local groups. I have learned so much for others in the community. You are starting over just as Natalie is and you have much to learn. I'm available for lunch, and I'm a good listener.
Mary Kinart
Nancy & Tom:
I check your website every few days and am in awe of what you have gone thru. Nobody could possibly fathom going thru what your family has. Please know Natalie and your family are in our prayers nightly.
God bless you all and may Natalie keep making wonderful strides!
Peggy Auld
Nancy, Tom and Natalie,
It was so good to get to see Nancy and Natalie in March when I was in town. I'm sorry I missed seeing you, too, Tom. Big transition now, back home, I've been thinking of you. I'm glad the rehab center is working out, and keeping you busy, Natalie, I know you are ready to learn and practice new things all the time. It's nice to think of you at home more, instead of at the hospital, but I bet they miss you there.
We are finally getting some flowers blooming, but it's cold again, spring is slow coming this year, but it makes each hour of sunshine so much more appreciated. Emma got a rabbit recently, it's really soft and hops around in her room. Our dog, Simba, is very excited about the rabbit (Argyll sp?), they touch noses through the cage. That's our bit of spring news.
Thinking of you all,
Jane (Billy's clone, as Nancy says)

I am not sure you get the part of the email I sent but in a nut shell I e-mailed Danielle Steel and told her what ablessing her book was to my godchild after a car accident left her blind. I never expected to hear back but here is her responce back to me.....Read below.
Love
Sarah
Dear Sarah,
Thank you so much for writing. I was enormously touched by your letter, and impressed by its eloquence and generosity. I am so pleased to hear how much your godchild Natalie enjoyed Sisters on tape. It's tremendously moving to hear the book brought a sense of joy and hope to her after her accident. She sounds like a very courageous young woman, and I was so sorry to hear of the injuries she suffered in the accident. Hearing how one of my books touched her and inspired her is the best praise I can ask for. Please pass along my very best wishes to Natalie and her family.
With warm wishes, Danielle Steel
Ms. Steele,
Thanks for giving my godchild hope!
This past December Natalie was driving when her car hit the back of a tractor trailer. Everyone thought she was dead. She broke every bone in her face and had four cracks in her skull. Miraculously Natalie lived. We are still not sure to what extent her injuries will be to her brain but she will be blind. Natalie turned 26 in IUC. She is home with her parents and continuing her rehab daily. One thing that has brought her great joy and hope has been listening to your book on tape, "Sisters". For her to listen about someone else's blindness and how they overcame that is HUGE! Sometimes it is nice to know that what you do makes a difference in the world!

I've been reading the updates from the past couple of weeks. I am amazed at the progress that Natalie is making. You all are remarkable people. Family and friends are there for you, as I know you are aware of, but do ASK for whatever you think we could contribute to help.
Tom - it was so good to see you last month when we were in KC and to have a good talk of days from the past and also the present. Your family sounds amazing and we continue to ask in our prayers for Natalie's continued progress and for the rest of your family to keep up their strength and Faith. We are waiting for spring to arrive here in Iowa. We even saw a few snow flakes again this morning.
Sending our Love. Arlene Erusha
Hi Natalie
It was great seeing you when Joey, Anthony, and I were in Blue Springs. You are looking great. You are a strong woman and you and are in great spirits. I know that the boys were excited to meet you. I am glad that you are home. God bless you

My Dearest SchnanceAMillion,
I've been trying to keep up with Natalie's progress and your schedule and, frankly, I don't know how you do it! The pace you and Tom are keeping is Super-human! I'm exhausted in sympathy. We were so happy to read that Nat's finally home. Remember when that was in doubt? Thank God!, and your optimism and dogged determination for this miraculous turn-around. Nancy, you are a really incredible woman and I am so glad to know you. ... And in knowing how incredibly "balls-to-the-walls" you are, I certainly understand you not being able to get back to me, but please remember that I am here. If there is anything, (besides praying fervently morning and night - which is already part of my schedule) and I mean anything, that I can do, I'm just a phone call or flight away. Let me hear from you - I'd say "when you catch a breath", but I think "between breaths" might be sooner - please. I miss you, Old Friend. You are constantly on my mind and in my every prayer. Keep well and please keep in touch. My love, in fact all Darden love to you and yours.
Missing you from Gretna - Gina
$20.00
Sometimes we just need to be reminded!
A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?"
Hands started going up.
He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.
He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill.
He then asked, "Who still wants it?"
Still the hands were up in the air.
Well, he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty.
"Now, who still wants it?"
Still the hands went into the air.
My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless.
But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you.
The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE and WHOSE WE ARE.
You are special - Don't EVER forget it."
If you do not pass this on, you may never know the lives it touches, the hurting hearts it speaks to, or the hope that it can bring.
Count your blessings, not your problems.
"And remember: amateurs built the ark .. professionals built the Titanic.
If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it.

Hi,
Congratulations on bringing Natalie home. I have been an avid reader ever since her accident, so thank you for working to keep it updated.
My 90 year old father had a stroke 5 years ago and is paralyzed on the left side. We also found transferring into and out of the car difficult. and we bought a chair for his car that turns out and also a handle that sticks into the latch that closes the door for him to lean and push on. Those 2 items have made a huge difference in his car transfers, but of course you are probably going to see Natalie improve much more so won't need them. Your insurance would probably pick them up. Let me know if you want more details. Keep your chins up. You are incredible people. take care, Ellen Trakas

Dear Natalie, Nancy, Tom, Laura, and Derek,
I am writing on behalf of the whole Zarych group from Bergen Court to let you know that you have been in ours hearts and prayers during this difficult time and the long road of rehabilitation. We think of you often and since I have been the one receiving every email update, and reading every single post, I have been keeping my family abreast of Natalie's wonderful progress. Mom asks all the time what Natalie's News is. I am living here in Washington, DC (near Amy and her husband and children) and attending nursing school at Georgetown. Every week in my clinical rotations, I am witness to how difficult it can be to have a loved one recovering, and what a blessing it is to receive nurturing medical care, as it seems that you have been. When I have ICU patients and those rehabilitating, I think of Natalie often, sending warm thoughts of progress your way. We miss you all, and are so thrilled that Natalie is taking such promising steps forward! We hope that when the time comes that Natalie is traveling freely, a trip to NJ will be in order! I will continue to read every bit of every post and we love you all!
With love and well wishes,
Melissa Zarych (on behalf of the Zarych Family)
Schneider Family, It is so great that you are HOME Natalie!! I remember the safeness , comfort and the feeling I was alive and this is who I am. Even though it was 30 years ago since mt accident, the memories are still there. I spotted my NZS T-Shirt last week. Of all places it was at the bowling alley. It wasn't nothing like the Christmas Day Bowl out of the Schneiders. Of course I think I came in last of the group. Most of my friends knew what the T-Shirt was about after I explain it. They still didn't let me win!! Hope everything is going good!! Love to all!! Aunt Charlene
Nat,
It has been offically 2 hours since I last saw you and I alread miss you. Take care and keep working hard and it will pay off in the long run. If you ever want to chat give me a call. Laura Franken (OT)
Wonderful news about Natalie's homecoming! I saw the following on YouTube today and thot of Natalie and all the Schneider family members:
2007 YouTube Video Awards - 1st Place in Inspirational category:
Blind Painter from texascountryreporter. The man lost his sight from epilepsy and talks about changes. It is very interesting - and he's quite a painter!
Your website is so filled with love.

Nancy, Tom and Natalie... I'm so excited to get the update today! What a day to behold! I communicated early on with sister Sarah and Becka that we would be in prayer for you all. We have prayed regularly and love to hear of the news today! We will continue to pray for strength, determination, and energy for all of you. I am inspired to hear of Natalie's determination! Much Love, Corinna

Miss Natalie and ALL, Glad to see you got to go home for a short visit , it's always a experience to go anywhere with your parents. I'm trying to picture your Dad feeding you milk balls, I never had the pleasure but then I am always amazed with the many talents he has!!! Work hard, do what your told [ I keep forgetting, your a SCHNEIDER, so that will never happen], keep the faith and share it with everyone around you. FEEL THE LOVE, Keep everyone on their toes!! Always--- Jim Erusha03/10/08
Dear Nancy and Tom,
We don't ask for what life throws our way, but how we deal with it is what defines us. I continue to be amazed with your strength and positive attitude. You are such examples for the rest of us. I am so happy to hear Natalie was able to come home today for a short time. I am sure it was an emotional time for you. I really want to come back out and visit and will look at my calendar to figure that out.
By the way, look for something coming by mail that I got at CVI last week, a device to help Natalie know where things are.
Love to you both,
Susan
I read the updates and see that you are working hard in Rehab. Sometimes you may think "this is too hard" but it sounds like you are very courageous and willing to show that you CAN DO THIS. I'm glad that you get to have your dog come to "visit" you. Dogs seem to have a sense of knowing what we humans need and that is affection to their owners. Hang in there and keep the spirits in high gear.
Tom - we plan to be in K.C. this week for the BB tournament. I know that is the least of things on your mind at this time but thought I would tell you. Your days must be so full so of course it might not be possible to actually see you but again want you to know that we still pray for Natalie each day and the rest of you too.
Oh yes, we will bring a truck load of our snow and ice with us just in case that is what K.C. needs. The first layer of ice that fell here at Thanksgiving time is still under the snow.
Thinking of all of you, Arlene Erusha
HI Natalie this is miche'le boudreaux. i am so proud to hear how well you are doing. you are a miracle. i know you will continue to fight, you have to. you have a lot of people praying for you! Hey Nat,
It's Casey and I just wanted to write you and say how extremly happy I am every time I look at your website and see improvement. Not many people could have the heart and fight to get through tough times like this but you sure can. I'm so glad I got to hang out with Max last weekend when he came in town. He is a great friend to me which only means I know he is a tremendous brother to you. I hope your progress just keeps getting better and better every day as I check all the time and hopefully I will get to come see you soon. My family and I's prayers to you and your family every night!

Dear Natalie,
I always ask Derek how you are doing. He keeps me updated and tells me how things are going. You are a strong woman and I know things are going to get better. I'm not going to forget the time you came to LSU and you came with Derek to the bar. That was the most fun I have ever had at work. Hanging out with yall was a blast. I wish I had an older sister that is as fun as you. I just wanted to let you know that I am keeping you in my prayers. I will continue to ask Derek how you are doing. When you come back down to LSU I'll have a Grey Goose/Red Bull with a splash of grenadine waiting for you. Take care hott stuff.
P.S. Always remember to fight hard and never give up.
Justin "Mango" Mangano
Dear Natalie,
We are so proud of you. We are continuing to pray that God's will will be done. You are so much like Grandmama and Me. You are so strong. I long to hear from you everyday. The progress reports are huge. You are doing so well. Robert and I are waiting to hear from you. You hang in there. Your strength is coming from above you must feel it. Your family is surrounding you with love and prayers. See you soon. Happy Belated Birthday, Mom and I thought you were 25. I am glad to know your not a quarter of a century old.
Love,
your FC Cynthia Lyn

Hey Nat,
I am so proud of you words can't even explain. I check your progress on the web site everyday eventhough it is olnly updated twice a week. You are such a strong person and I know this from the many times I have been around you. Stay positive and keep getting better everyday like I know you will. You are so lucky to have such a loving and close knit family, and I am happy that I can feel like I am a part of that family. I was jus reading a facebook message that you sent me and I'm in tears, you called me lil bro and told me how you and your family will always be there for me and that means so much to me. I'm just ready to come home from school for a little while so I can visit you and see all the good progress I've been hearing about you. Stay strong, keep your head up, and take things one day at a time because you have so much love and support it's amazing. I will continue to keep you in my prayers big sis.
Love ya,
Darius(D Hill)
Hi Nancy and Natalie,
I love reading the blog to find out all the new and terrific things Natalie is doing. She is far more brave than I would be! I'm glad Maximus came to visit. My dogs are special to me and I know he is special to you Natalie, and vice versa of course. Keep up your good work Natalie. I remember you and your family in thoughts and prayers. What a great family you have. Spring is almost here Natalie. Before long you'll get to feel the sun; won't that be great? Linda Nichols
Hey Nat,
It's your mom from Houston. Just wanted to tell you how excited I am to hear of your great progress. You should be so very proud of the achievement you have made in overcoming the obstacles you face daily. You are one of the strongest and most determined young lady I have had the plesure of knowing and loving. With your strong will, hard work and the love and support of your incredible family, you will just get better with each passing day. I love you and miss you so much and hopefully the next time Lauren comes to visit, I can tag along. Keep up the good work and god bless.
Luv,
Belinda

Dear Natalie,Of course I think of you always, but particularly now that I've begun to exercise by walking the all uphill mile from my mailbox to my house. At first I stopped every so often to catch my breath, and after a month I can make it the whole way without stopping. As I walk I think of 2 things. When your great grandfather, Pappy, had polio as a young man his Physical Therapy was rough. The neighbor/doctor took him away from home for an extended period and would load him in the wagon, drive him way out into the hot Texas sand, dump him and make him crawl home. Sounds cruel, but he recovered from being cripled that way. I also think of you Natalie working hard to get to the end of the parallel bars or the hospital hallway and I'm inspired. My march up the mountain is nothing compared to the obstacles you and your Great Grandfather have worked to overcome. Natalie, you come from good stock...full of determination. Keep at it, and so will I.
With Love,
Aunt Becka

Hi! Schneiders!!!
So good to hear that Natalie is progressing! From the posts on the website, it sounds like Natalie's recovery is kicking into a higher gear now. You all keep up the good work and know that we are still thinking of you. It is so inspiring what prayer and love of family and friends can help us to overcome. Keep up the good work!

We continue to pray for Natalie and her family. We feel blessed that all is well in our family but then feel so helpless when friends are having a difficult time. If only we would know what God's plan is. We try to ask for answers and they do not come so we continue to pray for strength for the Schneider family. Please know that the Iowa Connection is here for you in thought and prayer and would do anything you ask if there is need that we could fulfill..
Love Arlene and Bob Erusha
Hello to the Whole family!
All seems to be running as smoothly as possible. I am praying for Natalie as well as those around her. I hope you can find the positive note in every day coming. Just one little comment: on the home page the last thing says Nat. is in critical condition...maybe you could post a new comment under that stating she is out of critical care and getting better everyday?? I just thougt that is the first thing that pops up when you pull up the website and it would be refreshing to see a more positive note. Thanks for all you guys do to keep us informed. Good luck to all!

MISS NATALIE;
I also am in awe!!!!! Thanks for showing me your passion.... Good things are ahead but we need to continue to find them--- the search is on!! Never thought I would have to vote your parents "angels of the year" but at this writing that's the way it's going to be. Won't be long before you WILL race your Dad down the hall---- my money will be on you--- your Father has no footspeed. NO LIMITS for you kid, bring it on.

Dear Nancy and Tom,
Keep being brave for your girl.

Hi Nancy & Tom: I log on every day to make sure you all are doing as well as possible. I am constantly praying for you all, it must be exausting but exhilarating to see the progress in Natalie's recovery journey. Please let us know if we can do anything for you. Love Carol & Ken (New Orleans)
I saw Char last week and she sent me the website address for the Schneider family. I want you to know that prayers are being said from our family. You are truly showing what family love is all about. Natalie is so blessed to have such a loving family. I have never met you Nancy but have heard from Tom how involved you are in the community and how proud he is of his family.
Tom I wish I could be there to put my arms around you and hold your hand as I know your Mother would be doing if she were here. Please know that many are praying and wishing they could do more. Love to you all and thanks to those who update the website .

Natalie,
Sweet Miss Natalie! I remember Ed Smith calling you that when he would walk by and say " hello" . So now I'm being Ed Smith, I'm stopping by to say "hello, sweet Natalie" ! From what I've been reading you are holding up to the personality title of "GO GETTER"! I am so proud of you and your family! I know that you are all just doing what is natural and in your hearts, and that it absolutely awesome!!! I've been saying prayers for you in my heart everyday and at church as well! You are transforming and I know that we are all waiting to see what inspiration you bring with you! I remember you always told me that " this is me and if people don't like that, well too bad." Please don't let that part of you change! Your honesty and ability to tell it like it is should never be changed!!
Our family prays for you and we carry you in our hearts!

Cynthia has such a beautiful way of telling Natalie's story. I am so thankful of the updates and pray for you all many times a day. My husband, Marty had to go to Tel Aviv last week on a business trip so I was sure to send a prayer for Natalie to once again be put in the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. Keep up the good work Natalie!!! It is such a relief to read the updates and know that you are getting better every day!! Always here if you need anything Nancy.
Peace,

MISS NATALIE and ALL the SCHNEIDERS'
Again thanks for the updates, I appreciate the efforts put forth by everyone involved!!!!!!!!!!!
Seems to me your getting a little fiesty Natalie but that trait is definitely from your MOTHER.
Nancy, I worry when the SISTERS get together, hopefully you will contol the situation.
If anyone wants to see snow, come to Iowa we've got plenty and as you know you are ALWAYS WELCOME.
Keep the faith, know WE all LOVE YOU---- Jim and Denise Erusha
Dear Natalie,
I saw you yesterday for the first time. Spoke to you. And, more importantly, you spoke to me. Last night I couldn’t go to sleep. I had this image in my head of a spider spinning its silver-threaded web. Working and working tirelessly to make those connections. I imagined that that was your wounded brain… spinning its connections. Working and working. Whatever the shape of your brain-web when this is all done, I imagine covered in dew, sparkling in the sun one of these mornings…
Keep working Natalie.
Loving you,
Aunt Ceeta (aka Cynthia)

To The Schneider Family: Natalie will remain in our hearts and prayers for many months to come, we read about her daily progress and it is amazing that she has come this far. Your love and faith have brought her this far and God's Angels are surrounding your family with love: My daughter belongs to a chapter of the Patchwork Club and designed a patchwork and created this poem it is as follows: A family is like a patchwork quilt with kindness gently sewn,
Each piece is an original, with beauty all its own,
With threads of happiness and care it is tightly stitched
together, to last in love throughout the years "A family is Forever"
May the grace of God be with the entire Schneider Family until they bring their Natalie home with them soon.
With much Love - The Chenault's, and the Hendrickson Families
Blessings to Natalie and Schneider family.
Always in my prayers.
Its day by day, with God Blessings to ALL.
God keep Natalies alive, its a miracle of faith and love.
She is in the hand of God, she will recovery, I pray for her and all.
Regards,
Carmen Carle

I am so happy to hear that Natalie is doing better everyday. I have thought about all of you during this time. It has brought back so many memories when our son was in the hospital. It makes you appreciate the littles things. We were so excited when Ryan just tied his shoe. We knew then, there was so much tucked away inside his brain and it was just going to take some time. Natalie is the same. She is doing so much already and she keeps showing you there is so much more in there. You guys are great parents, brothers and sisters who will always be there to help her along. I know it is not going to be easy but with all the love and support from your family and friends you'll make it through.
Wishing you all the best,
Patty Anderson
Nancy and Tom --- Every posting reminds us how wonderful YOU are and how much strength you give Natalie. Hang in and know that every inch of progress is a mile in our hearts. I hope she won't remember any of this except your closeness and love.

I just wanted to say that Nancy called me today saying that she wanted Natalie to hear familiar voices. She put the phone to Natalie's ear, and Nat said, "Hi Lauren"! Talk about the greatest feeling in the world! I was on cloud 9! Absolutely made me the happiest I've been since before December 10th. I will be coming to visit soon, and can hardly wait. Thank you so much Nancy for calling, you really have no idea how much that meant today. I love you Natalie and miss you so much! Keep up the hard work, and I'll be there soon. Nancy and Tom, I think you are the greatest parents in the world, and all of the love and support from your family and friends is simply amazing. Nancy, thank you again for today. Luv.

Hi to all the Schneider's!
I have read everyday and have called Tom often to find out about Natalie's journey now she is awake.
It is so remarkable how she is doing! I know that she knows so much more and its there in her head, but
you just can't do it. I know when I was at this stage it was so confusing , you know but then again you don't.
Surprisingly Natalie will wonder how she does know something! It is a state of 'whatever'. The weather here
in Iowa is ungodly we got the cold and blowing snow! My thoughts and prays are always with you. And
Natalie my 'heart' and angel are looking in always!!
LOVE YOU ALL
Aunt Charlene
Natalie:
Rachel and I read the last update together over dinner. We were moved to hear that when asked who you were, you said "Natalie Zoe Schneider"! We now know that you are on the road to recovery, as we can both picture you saying those words with pride! We miss you and love you!
Cousins Justin and Rachel
Dear Nancy and Tom,
I am so thrilled that Natalie is talking!!! As she continues to make progress she touches all of us with her courage and strength. Wow! Go Natalie Zoe!
I know that so much of where you are now is just believing in her and believing in God and trusting that whatever happens that you will find a way through it. The beauty is that you never have to do it alone. You have each other and your sweet, sweet children, and so many loving friends and family. As I told you, my entire synagogue heard Natalie's name in a prayer last week, and has every week since the accident. I think about you all the time, and I believe every day that God is watching over all of you.
Those serendipitous moments continue to flow...
I look forward to seeing Max in Auburn in a few weeks.
Love,

You continue to amaze all of us all over the country, day in and day out. Keep pushing like the Natalie we've always known and loved. Sending my love to Natalie and the family, Jessica Kennedy
Nancy, Tom, Natalie and family,
I know some of the struggles you are facing, last May my 18 year old niece thought she could turn in front of a dump truck without trouble. She spent three months in a Topeka hospital followed by two months in rehab. Her recovery has been remarkable considering where she was. With faith and love you will find the courage needed to face each day.

Dear Natalie and family, still thank you for the website and realize what an encouragement it is to us all. Your still in my prayers and thoughts, may God continue to give you all strength and love. barbara russell.
Whispers
The man whispered, "God, speak to me" and a meadowlark sang.
But, the man did not hear.So the man yelled, "God, speak to me" and the thunder rolled across the sky. But, the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said, "God let me see you." And a star shined brightly. But the man did not see.
And, the man shouted, "God show me a miracle." And, a life was born. But, the man did not notice.
So, the man cried out in despair, "Touch me God, and let me know you are here." Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man. But, the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.
I found this to be a great reminder that God is always around us in the little and simple things that we take for granted .. even in our electronic age. So I would like to add one more:
The man cried, "God, I need your help!" And an e-mail arrived reaching out with good news and encouragement. But, the man deleted it and continued crying
Don't miss out on a blessing because it isn't packaged the way that you expect. Have A Happy Day!
Note for Natalie:
Nancy and Tom have been unbelievable parents in the care of Natalie. They have been there for Natalie day in and day out. They haven't missed a day in the hospital since December 11th. They are constantly coming up with innovative ways to help and stimulate Natalie. It hasn't always been easy yet they have stepped up to the plate and done what is necessary. I don't know if I could have done all that they have done. They are amazing! They are a testament to everyone what a family's love and closeness is all about.
I know Mamma would have been so proud of Nancy and Tom. This is so much about what she taught us!
Jerry and I pray for all of them every night at the dinner table.
I know all of you feel the same way!
Thanks for letting me brag on my younger sister and her husband!
A very proud older sister,
Sarah

Dear Natalie,
There's a riddle that goes "How Do You Eat an Elephant?" The answer is "One Bite at a Time."
Perhaps this is to be your Elephant Phase in rehab. One bite at a time, you'll keep progressing. It is such a good idea to go to the Sunday and Wednesday schedule, so that the little elephant bites add up. You remain in all of our thoughts and prayers, and we think of you and your sweet family so often.
Blessings!

My name is Colin Minster. I am Derick’s room-mate, Mark Ranatza’s, sister in Slidell, Louisiana. I found out about Natalie’s accident soon after it happened and have been thinking about her and your entire family since. I saw Derick last weekend and he told me about the web site so I signed up. It is scary to know that while we all live our lives as if without a care in the world, there are people out there who need help and need the love and care that we take for granted. Please know that even as far away as New Orleans, Louisiana, there are people pulling for Natalie and everyone involved. We’ll take good care of Derick and make sure Mark brings home a lot of leftovers!!

Dear Schneiders,
My name is Tracy Henson and I worked with Natalie at the Blue Springs Hampton Inn. I was so very sorry to hear about the accident but if ANYONE can pull through this, it is Nat! I have a whole group of people who have never even met Natalie that are praying for her on a daily basis and they also check this website daily. Please tell Natalie that me and my sister Ginny love her and as soon as she is up for visitors (other than family) we WILL be there to see her.

Dear Schneider Family,
Natalie may not remember me, but we went to HS together, she's a great person and I really hope this past soon.
I will have you in my prayers.I’m sending this to let you know
I think of you each day,
And pray for your recovery,
Hoping soon you’ll be okay.You’re going through a lot right now;
You’re treatments can be trying;
Remember while you do them
It’s your problem you’re defying.Hold on to your positive attitude,
And when things get hard to bear,
Know that we are here for you;
Remember that we care. And when you’re well and flourishing,
Look back and realize,
You learned what you were made of;
That’s a reward that satisfies! We believe in you; You can do it!
Stay Strong,
Karina Reyes
Hello Tom and Nancy,
I used to work with you Tom at Marriott Downtown as a Sales Manager and I just wanted you to know I heard about Natalie’s accident and have her and your family in my prayers. She is making remarkable progress and I know it will continue with the love and support you have all around you.
Best wishes to you all.

Dear Schneider Family,
Natalie's Progress web site is so wonderful. We have been reading each posting which naturally brings tears of joy and concern for all of you. It has been comforting to read about the support you are receiving from friends and family far and near who care so much. More comforting and evident is that God is caring for all of you as you support Natalie and each other on this journey of recovery.
Praying for all of you daily... Pat, Ellen, Colleen and Michael Murphy-St. Louis
Nancy,
Not sure you remember me, we played tennis together occasionally at Courtside several years ago. I heard about Natalie’s accident from mutual PTA friends.
I just wanted to tell you that I’ve been praying every day for Natalie’s recovery and for God to bless you and your family with an abundance of strength and peace. Like so many others, I have tracked her progress via the website and seek God’s hand and healing each time I read an update. It has been encouraging to read of her progress.
So many more people than you can possibly imagine are praying for the very best results.
Hugs from afar,
Dena Morrison

Miss Natalie and all the Schneiders'
Kudos for all your good work and efforts lately. All the website updates ,bring everyone a chance, to be with you in spirit and prayer. So pleased to see Natalie showing that tough, " I can do this" mentality that every Schneider possesses-----Thank God for the likes of Nancy and Tom, and the compassion for life that they have ALWAYS shown. Continue to keep the faith and make all these little steps into much bigger ones!!!!!!!!

Schneider Family, please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. We have been keeping up with Natalie's progress, and are so encouraged for you and your family.
I can't imagine the roller coaster of emotions you have been thru, and are continuing to go thru. Please know you are in our prayers, and we are just about 4 streets away. So, if you need anything, please let us know.
May God continue to comfort you and encourage you. Praise him thru the storm! Love, The Lewis.'
Hi Nancy and Family,
I have been keeping up with Natalie's progress through the web site and talking with Susan. I'm so sorry for all that you and your family has been through, and of course Natalie. I don't know what you are going through, but I can only imagine. I know that God works miracles everyday. I have had you all in my prayers and will continue to.

Dear Nat,
I have been wanting to come see you but my mom will not let me, she says when you are feeling better. So, I just got my email and wanted to tell you that I miss you, love you and hope you are feeling better. This is the only way I can talk to you right now. I miss our McDonalds trip and you are the only one to take me to the pet stores. I will come see you when the adults tell me I can. You know how that is. I am also learning how to write letters and paragraghs in school. I am not so bad at this. I have a formal dance I am going to in Febrary. It's a Valentines Dance. I have soooo much to tell you. Maybe I can call you. I will ask my mom. She really misses you. Remember Love you, miss ya face. Love, Logan (Loogie)
See Ya Soon

Dear Tom and Nancy:
I've been reading about Natalie's progress every day and I'm so happy to know she's making good progress. I just want you to know that I pray for Natalie to get well every day. Years ago, one of our daughters was in the hospital and the doctors told us there was nothing further they could do for her and we prayed so hard for her. That next morning all of her tests were normal and today, she is just fine. The doctors just shook their heads in disbelief. If you should need any kind of help, please feel comfortable to call on John and I. We are both retired and available. John and Marilyn George
Wow, look what you are accomplishing every day! Way to go!!! Praying daily for you and your family! Susan Berndt (your mom's friend)
Dear Natalie,
I know we have never met, but we have seen photos of you in Christmas letters for a long time, and we think of you fondly. Ricky and I have been following your amazing recovery on the website ever since we learned that this was possible. Just know that there are heartfelt prayers being raised and positive thoughts coming your way from Los Altos. The update yesterday was really encouraging. I know they will help you to work very hard to regain skills and abilities you want back.
Love,
Mary Anne and Ricky James
I'm coming soon to get my hugs! That would be the best birthday present I could ever ask for. I'm so excited to hear of the wonderful progress my sweet Natalie is making. Simply amazing. Well actually, for Nat, it's not totally amazing- it's just the way she is. I love you all, and look forward to seeing you in the near future.

Wow, Natalie you're in Rehab. Been there, done that as the loving but hard family member pushing to do more! Take it day by day. In my short 6 months as the caretaker of my cousin going to PT, I watched her go from learning how to get out of bed, getting a wheel chair, standing up in-between the parallel bars, to taking her first steps with a prosthetic leg. These are days that are numbered but days that will bring great joy and heartache. God is with you all the way. Seek his guidance and he will provide all you need.
Always~ Rhonda Paulk
Tom and Nancy,
I just received the news about Natalie last week and was able to access this website with info from Jim today. There is not much Sam and I can say to even begin to suggest we could help or understand what you are going through right now. What we do want you to know, however, is that our prayers are with Natalie and both of you right now. When we graduated in 1968 no one ever told us how much of a roller coaster life would be. All I’ve learned from any of it is to cherish those good times and never let a day go by without letting the ones you love so dearly how important they are to you. You guys are important to us and we will be watching the website regularly to celebrate every step of improvement that Natalie makes. If there is ever anything either of us could do, don’t hesitate to ask. Until then, I know that God is holding all of you in the palm of his hand. Love,
John and Sam Krumbholz
Dear Natalie, I continue to pray daily for strength for you and your family. One day at a time... Love, Marianne Snyder

Dear Natalie,I don't know if you remember me or not but I lived on Simpson Road in Marlborough, MA when you did. Laura and Derek and PJ (although she is Tricia now) were all friends and played together. I was Girl Scout Leader with your Mom and we were great friends. I am so sad to hear about your accident but am encouraged to hear that everyday you are improving. I will put you on the prayer chain at my church and I will lift you and your family up daily. I have not been a very good friend to your Mom, as I have not spoken to her for years. We have exchanged Christmas cards, though, and I have never forgotten all the laughs we had. Life is precious and too short to let wonderful friends slip away. I am hoping that your Mom can forgive me and know that I love her and you and you will always have special place in my heart.
God be with you and may you continually feel His arms around you.

Dear Natalie,
Your Uncle Jerry and I are in Cancun with our good friends from Iuka, Mississippi, Sandy & Frank Bledsoe. We are very close to your family home in Playa. We have really had you on our minds and we are reading your updates daily from here. It sounds like you are making some great progress! We are so proud of you! Keep up the good work!
Love,
Aunt Sarah
To The Schneider Family,
I don't know your family but I work at Blue Springs High School and the email was sent out about Natalie. I can't but help check out her progress and pray for the whole family on a daily basis. I lost a brother in a car accident many years ago and he was about Natalie's age. My heart aches but God's heart is so much bigger!! I will keep praying for her continued healing and for the family as they try to continue on in a "normal" fashion.
In His tremendous love,
Amber Wakefield

I would like to say that I am amazed daily at the progress but can any of us who knows Natalie really say that? She is the toughest thing I know. Yet, if you know Natalie, you also know she has a vulnerability that is undeniable as well. Natalie, I hope you know that your strength will pull you through. Have the confidence in yourself to know that. I remember when you came to stay with me in Warrior and you did not want to doll up too much but you were willing to dye your hair and put on a little makeup. You were so pretty and could not help smile a bit when looking in the mirror. When I come to Kansas City, we will fix you up again and I hope you will smile a little bit. That vulnerability is important too, though. Don’t let it go, because it allows us to know you. Let us in to love you and we will all be stronger for it. You and us. I still believe you are in a place that is a little different from the rest of us right now. I think you have a window into a reality that we do not quite understand. While you are there, in that doorway, look around and remember what you see. Is it a richer understanding of yourself? Are others with you? Do you know our love? Can you see us? I hope so. I hope you know all the love that is happening for you across the country. People you do not even know. You are changing the world as people connect, share your story, learn lessons, reach out, and pray for strength. You are making a difference. I am proud of how hard you are fighting. Thank you from all of us for working so hard to come home. We love you and are waiting to hear all the stories you will tell us. Hang in there.

Dearest Natalie,
I am so excited about your progress and I know that it is not easy.
All that is happening to you brings so many memories of coming out of a coma.
It seems like yesterday. I'm going to tell you ,don't give up just keep fighting.
The road ahead is going to be a stuggle and lady it is a tough one. You got that
Schneider strength inside of you so use every bit of it. I'm here in Iowa but my 'heart '
is there in KC. When Tom called me about you were waking up ,Natalie the sound in
his voice said everything. You keep taking them "baby' steps which feels like you
have moved a mountain. I know!! I am so proud of you lady! Love You !!

Yippee, Natalie is awake. I've been through the long road to recovery with a cousin. Was there daily as they worked with leg trying to get it to move and arms to gain strength. Keep the faith and push yourself HARD! It's a tough battle but from what I've heard you'll have no problem with PT. Most likely you'll be giving them hell!Praise the Lord, he is good, he is good indeed!

Hi Tom and Nancy,
I have been following Natalie's progress since the accident. What you must be going through. Even if the progress is slow, it's still progress going the right way. You have to take baby steps before you can walk the mile. I pray for her every day, and for you both that you can continue such a positive attitude about her recovery. Every day is a new beginning for Natalie and the support she has around her I'm sure will speed her progress. You're all in my thoughts and prayers.
Love, Kathy
Schneider Family-
I was very surprised reading today's post! I just visited Israel last week as well. I also placed a prayer in the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem for Natalie. I also went to the site where Jesus broke a couple loaves of bread and fish and fed 5000. I lit a candle there and prayed for Natalie. Miracles happen! Your family is in my prayers.

I continue to read the daily updates on Natalie. All though I do not know her I do know the rest of the family. As I said in an earlier message I left it is 1 step forward & 2 back. But hey progress is progress. I was tickled to hear that Laura had her flip the bird and she responded to that . My sister whom has a brain injury stuck her tongue out at me and also flipped me the bird ! I then thought to my self she was going to be fine. I have told my sister about Natalie and the daily struggles you are all going through and she has you all on her prayer list as well. Like I said before she has a brain injury and she is about 85% .She my sister is truly an inspiration to me. If you have never known someone that has a brain injury and been through all of the things involved you truly don't understand the work , pain & the happiness that comes with it. There struggle's become yours because you want to help them but they have to do it there self, don't get me wrong family & friends are always by there side it is just a difficult situation. I continue to pray daily for God to give Natalie & your family the strength to endure each hurdle as it comes. Nancy if you need some company while going thru this feel free to call ! I wanted to let you know that my sister went to Mid America Rehab out at 435 & Nall and they did a great job with her and dealing with the constant flow of family & friends. Natalie will stay strong and get better and at not just her speed but Gods speed. God Bless ! Carla Kisner

-Natalie and her loving family-
You all have endured so much in the past month and will continue to do so but a miracle has happened. SHE IS AWAKE. Natalie told herself I am going to wake up today. I need to let my family and friends know I love them so much and i made it through this because of them. I honor the schneider family for being strong and always staying by her side and not losing hope. I send these encouraging words once again to give comfort and relief. Knowing that a complete stranger feels your pain and does what they can to help is another reason you all got through this. The main reason you all made it through this is Natalie she is the strongest person I know. I will continue to write and do what i can to help your hearts heal. Although my notes are 1% of many, its that 1% that can make a strong impact on your lives and i hope i have done so.
Take it easy and I look forward to reading tomorrows updates.
-With love and care-

Dear S.A.N. & Strong Family,
I am elated to hear that my Sweet Angel Natalie(S.A.N.) is awake! And to learn of all of her movements, it's the time we've waited for. Go SAN Strong! I think she's going to blow our minds even more in the near future, because what Nat wants, Nat gets. And she'll work as hard as she has to in order to accomplish her goal. Thank you so much Nancy and Tom for being there all the time and working with her encouraging this early success. If you played her rap music, I'm sure she loved it. If the nurses let you play that stuff, they clearly love Nat. Now, I really want to come to visit, but I'm just waiting for you guys tell me when is good. I'm thinking probably when she's in the rehab center. Love you guys.

Dear Schneiders,
Fantastic news! So proud of Natalie and all of you!

Tom and Nancy,
I just heard of your daughter's accident from Paul James. He told me about the web site set up to alert friends, family and co-workers about Natalie's progress. After reading the diary of the extensive medical procedures, how your family is coping, the surge of familiy & friends, I am numb. Although normally not at a loss for words, I do not know what to say, except please know you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
Carolyn McClure (formerly of the Marriott Downtown)
teresa and santos my parents want you to get well soon and we are still praying for you and your family and god is gonna help you get because god is big and he is gonna help you

It's Cindy Christmas...I just wanted you to know I have been thinking of you and Sue has told me Natalie is making some progress. You are all in my prayers. I know you have a bunch of friends and family, but if there's anything I can do for you, like let dogs out, a meal, just come down and sit with you, I would be thrilled to do it. Just wanted to let you know you are on my mind. Love, Cindy
Nancy and Tom and Family...We were so saddened by news of Natalie' accident in Dec. We continue to watch daily with awe as she continues to fight her way back. You don't have to tell me what a fighter she is...remember I took a splinter out of her foot when she was 5. Our prayers are with you as her progress unfolds and you meet these new challenges with love and courage. With love to you all in these hopeful times, Rick and Marianne Snyder
My name is Christina Patterson and I graduated from bshs in 07 and was familiar with Natalies sister Laura. I heard about what happened from a friend and my heart dropped and my eyes teared up. I don't know Natalie but i felt some connection and told myself I needed to write to her family and send my prayers. I thought to myself if there was anything I could do to help, sending my care and support would be a start. I read all the updates everyday and pray for a full recovery. Like I said I dont know Natalie but I do know that she will make it back to her family and friends and tell you all how much she has missed you all. Take care and i look forward to the day she awakes.

Tom, Nancy and family,
We have been following the updates daily and are so pleased to see that Natalie is responding. Her progress is sounding promising. Your Iowa friends and family are thinking and praying for Natalie. Glad to hear that Physical therapy and Occupational therapy are working with Natalie. We have remained optimistic and have kept all of you in our thoughts. Nancy you go ahead and give all the hugs you want. I loved that...
Take care,

Dear Tom, Nancy, Max, Laura and Derek,
Gerry came home today telling me the news about Natalie. He got a call from Tom, actually made by mistake.
I got on the website that Tom had mentioned you had and we both sat here and read through your updates. I just had to drop a note to let you all know that you (everyone of you) and Natalie are in our prayers and will be in our thoughts daily. It sounds like you have a wonderful supportive group of friends and of course family. God has obviously stayed close by your side to get you through what you have already been through and I'm sure that will continue. Again, our prayers are with you and all our love.
God Bless,
Gerry and Carole O'Brien
Hi Nancy,
I just read through the notes on Natalie's progress and some of the wonderful notes your many, many friends and family have posted on the website. Since you called us on New Year's Eve, I've been trying to think of things to say to you. Words still haven't come, but I didn't want to wait any longer to tell you that I love you, Nance, and you and the whole family have been in my thoughts and prayers every day. Before Aubree and Ryan were born, I saw you with your "young-uns", and what I saw was a woman who loved her children to the very core of her being. To this day, when I think of you I remember how centered you always were with Tom and the kids. It was always obvious that they were your world, and you loved it that way. Although I know my own mom loved me the best that she could, I can't say that she was a very good "role model" for motherhood. But what I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, is that you were, Nancy. You epitomized a loving wife and mother to me, Nance. I really, really mean that.I'll continue to pray and check the website often. I know you've got your bad moments, but I can only imagine how you brighten up that hospital sometimes with your infectious personality!
Give Natalie a kiss for me.
Love you lots,
Bookie
Dear Natalie and Family, Praise the Lord! I'm so happy to read the good updates. I shudder when I think of the up coming emotions to follow, sad, mad, glad, but its unamious, Natalie, everyone is very glad your still with us. Proverbs 3:5,6 tells us to, Trust in the Lord with all your might, and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Continued, love and prayers, barbara russell.
Dear Nancy and Family,
I just want you to know that you and Natalie are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry for what you are going through and I truely believe that God answers prayers. I will keep praying for Natalie and if there is anything else I can do, I would be glad to.
Love,
Pam Freund
I had to smile when I pictured your mom tackling the doctor with a bear hug! You don't know me but I know your mom and live in Waterfield. This sounds silly but I can't get you out of my thoughts. I pray for you many times through the day and for your family as well. I am thankful for Cynthia, Susan and your mom's updates, Praise the Lord that you are responding and coming back to a family that clearly loves you so much!!!!! I love all the pictures.
I struggle with the fact, that I want to help your family some how but have no idea what to do. I pray constantly for you but it just seems that I want to do more. Please let me know if there is anything I can do otherwise.
You must have a spirit like your mom. You are a fighter! Go Natalie!!!!!
In my thoughts and prayers always, Susan Berndt

Is it true? Really and truly true? It is a miracle. I can't wait to get there and see for myself. Nancy, I continue to be so amazed at you - and now the perseverance to help Natalie wake up. Keep dancing the dance - it seems to be working. Think Mamma has a hand in this?...
Go Natalie, go...
Love to all of you,

What a fabulous day for Natalie and for all of you!! ALL of our prayers are being answered. Nancy and Tom--Take deep breaths, smile, laugh, and thank God for all his works. And by the way, please squeeze Natalie's hand from us. We will continue to keep you all in our thoughts and prayers and are so glad for you that Natalie is beginning her recovery. (Maybe today is her 'second' birthday?)

YIPPEE! I know GOD is at work and so are you Natalie. I told you just the other day that if you want the music changed you'll have to wake up and tell them to change it yourself! I'm thrilled beyond belief that you're doing so well. Just keep working at coming back to us everyday.
God is good, God is Great!

Hey Nat,
Just sitting here thinking that in about 72 hours we will be pulling into KC and I will get to feel you squeeze MY hand! I am so jazzed to read of your outstanding progress every day, your family is pulling so hard for you, you are a lucky girl. I cannot thank those responsible for these daily updates enough, my cube mate at work goes to the site to see the updates every day as well, she sent you a note a while back and has since made amends with her family. You are inspiring so many people, now wake up and you should be able to hear the cheers world wide! We love you and can't wait to see you.
Ginger
I'm thinking of you guys here on this Tuesday. I'm so happy to hear about Natalie's responses. I love you all! Lauren in Houston
What a wonderful way to start the day, reading the Natalie progress report and it containing so many positives. The website is totally amazing and so appreciated. See you guys soon. Love, The Zellers
Yea Natalie!! We are so proud of you! Keep it up girl, you’re a fighter! Thinking and praying for you always!
Love, Sarah Hunter and Steve Crume
It was so good to see you two, Nancy and Natalie, yesterday. I thought you both looked good considering everything you all have been through since the accident. Prayers are obviously being answered for Natalie to be responding so well yesterday. I was so excited to read the news about her "thumbs up" and rehab ready. Nancy, if you so choose to read the book to Natalie, I hope you both enjoy it and I hope the Angels of Hope and Strength bring comfort to all of you.
May blessings be abundant as Natalie continues her road to recovery.
Love, Renee R.
Nancy & Tom , I was reading the update and the tears were flowing from my eyes, they were happy tears! Yes they are baby steps and allot of them are still coming but it's good. First thing I remember when I woke up was moving my lips like a fish and Dad put a ice chip in my mouth, I was thirsity. Little things are good for the 'heart'. That love you have given her she feels it! Tell her that I said "It is time to wake up."
Love you all charlene schneider

Natalie,
I think of you often throughout the day. I saw a girl with long blonde hair and full lips, like you. I thought it was a sign.
I love you,
Aunt Jean
Dear Natalie and family,
My name is Kathy and I am a friend of your Aunt Sarah and Uncle Jerry. I want to tell you of a miracle that happened in my life. My baby brother was seriously ill with a heart condition when he was born.
His doctors told us that he was not going to be with us long. His condition was considered fatal. He said that there had been a surgeon in Russia who had tried different operations to correct this problem but no one in the US had been sucessful to date.
A few days later he excitedly told my parents that the Russian doctor was in New York and was scheduled to speak to medical groups in the US. One group was in New Orleans. He said that he would try and get her to fly into Memphis and examine my brother and help his partner, a cardiac surgeon perfect an operation for my brother.
Later, that day he returned to my parents and sadly told them that the doctor's schedule was so tight that she could not fly into Memphis.
My parents were heartbroken. They prayed continuoulsy for my brother and read scriptures. One stood out to them in that time. It was Luke 1:37 when the angle told Mary that, "For with God, Nothing shall be impossible".
That night as the Russian doctor was flying to New Orleans, a fog set in the route they were traveling. The pilot had to ground the plane in Memphis. The Russian doctor called the Cardiologist in Memphis and said that she was in Memphis and would come to the hospital. She came, they planned a surgery for John(my brother).
The fog lifted, and she flew on to her meeting in New Orleans.
God performed another miracle that night and my brother was
saved.
This story has been relived many times in the lives of my family as we praised God for our son and brother. You see, as a child I learned in a very personal way of his greatness and I know HE is with you too!!!
Please know that we will continue to pray for your recovery each
and every day and remember , "FOR WITH GOD,NOTHING
SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE"
Sincerely, Kathy Cooke
Nancy,
I pray for Natalie and all of you on all my conversations with God. I want to put her on the Jesuit prayer line so everyone prays for her but would like your permission first.
I love you very much.....I admire you for your strength.

Nancy (Mom to Mom):
Still thinking about you and praying for your 'little girl'. You all are staying so strong and ever vigilant in her care. I know that if you could go through all of this for her, you would in a second in order to spare your daughter. Parenting isn't ever an easy journey but it it seems it often doesn't deal justly. Know that your family and friends continue to pray, hope, and have faith in you. Trust in all of our support and encouragement as well as the love and compassion of God to see you through the coming days.

Nancy, Tom, Natalie and the entire Schneider Family,
Happy New Year! I've been away from my computer a few days and haven't got to follow Natalie's progress. I hear that Stevie Wonder was playing in the room today, 6 Jan 08! Rachel mentioned that she had to change that quickly and get some funky music on! :-)
Just remember that you're groovin on in the inside but we need to see you groovin on the outside. Wake up and tell them to turn the music down yourself! Prayer is powerful, and God says; where there are three or more gathered in His name he is there! PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!
Chat with you soon and keep the faith!
Love Rhonda Paulk
Hey Natalie! Today, I was thinking about all of the Callaway Shows that we used to "perform" You and Rachel were the intermission show. Intermission is over, it is time for you to take the stage. Your act is up. We are all waiting for you to start. PLEASE WAKE UP! I love you so much and I am praying for you every day. The Lord is going to help you. With our faith, you will come back to us.
I Love you!!
Cynthia Lyn
Natalie - what smells do you like? I took cinnamon and lemon (not together!) amongst other "smells" when my dad was "sleeping" He responded to the smells. My family and I are thinking about you in your steps forward!! Love, Greta, Emily, Colin, and Maura

Nancy, I heard about the accident from Kristena the day after it happened. I'm so sorry this has happened to you and the family! I have been wondering if I should leave a message of some kind for awhile now. I really needed to let you all know that my sister was involved in an accident at work 7 years ago and she had a TBI (traumatic brain injury) it is a devastating thing to have happen to a loved one. She was in a coma for 4 1/2 weeks and then 1 day she just opened her eyes. I know how you & Tom must feel when making the medical decisions for her my parents had to do the same for my sister and they were scared at each every turn they came to. My family has a strong bond like the Schneider's and you will pull thru this. My sister was in rehab for her brain injury for about 9-10 months but she is doing well now I'd say about 85 %. The hard part was the baby steps it takes, they go from being strong and independent adults to a child like state. I remember going to see her everyday in rehab and her not being able to talk to me but she new music that we would play for her, or pictures she seen of her children and the family, I would go to church with her on Sunday's at the facility and she seemed like she didn't know what was going on but she would hear something in a sermon and shake her head or hear a church hymn and remember it. And like the Doctor's told us it is 1 step forward and 2 step's back. You have to have hope that she will be okay and get thru this.I would go to therapy classes with her and they would ask her a question and she new the answer but could not say the words and would look at me for me to tell them her answer. I would simply tell her that she needed to answer them. She didn't understand why all of the things happening to her were taking place but with her family there she felt a sense of comfort knowing she wasn't alone.I remember when she first woke up and she looked at me and stuck her tongue out at me as she had always done to me and my brother are whole life and it was very funny to know that she remember that she would do that to us. My parents just sat there and cried. When Physical Therapists got her out of bed to see if she could go to the bathroom with help I took her to the sink to wash her hand's and I got her hand to put under the soap dispenser and she moved it back and looked at me as if to say do you think I'm stupid I know how to get the soap myself and wash my hands and she did just that. I pray nightly for Natalie and the rest of the family for God to give you the daily strength you need endure each day as it comes. If there is anything thing that my family can do for yours please don't hesitate to reach out. We found out that with family and friends you need as many as you can get to rally around for a long and enduring process. And if you see the Doctor's are not doing something you think they should be (like the Motrin) then speak up you have to be her voice and her strength. My sister remembers us talking to her while she was in her coma. Just keep the faith and stay strong . God Bless you and the family .

Hi Schneiders,
Just wanted to let you all know that I think about each and every one of you daily. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Every time I see something beautiful or inspirational, I think of you Natalie and send it your way. I know you are all on a terrible roller coaster and please know that I am cheering you on out here in Cali! Time to come back to us now, Nat! We miss you! We need you! Your family's support for each other is such an inspiration to us all. Hang in there Schneiders, you are so strong!
Margot
Nancy, I don't know if you remember me or not, I was a friend of the Powers family, my daughters Allarie and Brielle often joined the neighborhood gang, so I am sure our children were together on many occasions. I just wanted to tell you to keep your faith, there are so many miracles every day. I am a rehabilitation nurse, worked in Brain Injury rehab for more than a decade and now I manage a Spinal Cord rehab unit in Philadelphia. Once Natalie is medically stable, she will go to rehab and there you will see some real progress. Right now, I am sure her metabolic "load" is massive.(All of those varied injuries working the immune system, the heart, the lungs, imagine trying to do the work of a whole company 24/7 all by yourself!! That's what it's like for her body...)
I want you to know that Natalie does know you are there. So many of my comatose patients told me, when they came back to visit, their stories of hearing conversations, music, feeling touches, smelling things, their senses took it all in, though they were unable to respond verbally. Bring as many things as you can from home, a favorite blanket, a perfume she always wore, music she enjoyed, talk to her, just chat about everything going on, name names of friends and relatives having birthdays, weddings, talk about the holidays, tell her about the weather, and remember, her carryover (memory) of what you say may not remain more than a few minutes, but the long term stuff she's known all her life will be strong. This is a form of "coma stimulation." You also might want to use texture, rough sandpaper, wooley sweater, ice cubes, feathers, brush her hair, stoke her cheek, all of these send sensory input into her sleepy brain. Ritalin works for about 4 hours from the time it is given. It "peaks" (is strongest) in 1 hour, so use that time frame to get the most stimuli in.
I hope I am not overwhelming you. I will help any way I can. There but for the grace of God could be any of our beautiful children. We are all family. God Bless You, Debbie Long, Ali and Brie
Laura, Nancy, Tom and family,
Just wanted you to know that I’ve been thinking of you through this difficult time, especially with the holidays. Please know that there are so many people who love and care for you – and want to help in any way we can.
The Schnieder family will always be a part of Blue Springs High School, and will forever be Wildcats. Whatever our Wildcat family can do for your family is only a note or phone call away.
The other day, while I was running, I heard a song by John Mayer titled Vultures. The song made me think of all of you and your daily battle with the “vultures” in your lives.
I’ve attached the lyrics – I’ll try to get the song to you.
Thinking of you.
Love, Friedel
Some of us, we're hardly even here
The rest of us, we're born to disappear
How do I stop myself from being just a number
How will I hold my head to keep from going under?Down to the wire
I wanted water
But I'll walk through the fire
If this is what it takes
To take me even higher
Then I'll come through
Like I do, when the world keeps
Testing me, testing me, testing meHow did they find me here?
What do they want from me?
All of these vultures hanging
Right outside my door
I hear them whisperin'
They're tryin to ride it out
They've never gone this long
Without a kill beforeDown to the wire
I wanted water
But I'll walk through the fire
If this is what it takes
To take me even higher
Then I'll come through
Like I do, when the world keeps
Testing me, testing me, testing meWheels up
I got to leave this evening
I can't seem to keep these vultures
Out of my trail
Powers is made, by power being taken
So, I keep on running to protect my situationDown to the wire
I wanted water
But I'll walk through the fire
If this is what it takes
To take me even higher
Then I'll come through
Like I do, when the world keeps
Testing me, testing me, testing me
Dear Natalie, I just came from a meeting at B.S. North H.S. Your buddy Officer Russell sends his prayers and wishes to you along with mine. Please know that you are loved and remembered by the many people whose lives you have touched. As we continue to pray with you for your recovery, we also send prayers and hugs to your family as they surround you at this very difficult time. God's richest blessings to you, Ed "Doc" Golden.
Natalie,
I go to church in Iuka, Mississippi, with your cousin, Cynthia Lambert, and her family. Cynthia is such a caring, loving person, and I think the world of her and her family. I have taught Samantha, Bryant, and Rebekah in Bible Class. My husband and I have been praying for you ever since we received the E-mail from Cynthia informing us of your accident. We will continue to pray for you and all of your family throughout your recovery.

Hi Natalie,
I've really only met you one time, but one time is all it takes to see you have an amazingly strong personality and larger-than life smile. I feel you are part of the family because of all the photographs and stories that have been shared through my aunt Belinda and cousin Lauren. ...please know that prayers for healing and strength are being said for you and your family all the way from Cairo, Egypt. I feel blessed to have been able to read such moving notes from your loved ones; reminders to not take anything for granted. Everyone is rooting for you! You're family is being so brave and strong. You'll be so proud of them when you wake up, just as they are of you. Keep fighting!
Love,
Angela

We have been thinking of you all constantly. Knowing that Natalie is probably in surgery right now as I am writing this, we wanted to send our love and prayers. The start of a new year always seems to bring hope for a new beginning, and that is exactly what we are praying is in store for you all, that each day is filled with nothing but progress and good news. Love, The Zellers

01/1/08 HAPPY NEW YEAR NATALIE!!!
Happy New Year Natalie!
You're here with us and showing the same fighting spirit as ever, thank God for your gene pool! It's one of those 'threatening' to snow sort of nights out there, I haven't really paid much attention to New Year's Eve for so many years, mainly because I can't stay awake that long..go ahead and poke fun..I'm old. This year I will stay up and resolve to do whatever I can in the New Year see you to recovery. If wishes were fishes we'd all have a fry...that's a silly little saying that my grandpa used to have, one of a million but very endearing to me as Grandpa sayings tend to be. The most irritating to me as a small child was, 'It will feel better when it quits hurting!', and as a small child I couldn't help but think..'No, duh!' It worked though, while thinking what a lame remark it was..viola! it felt better, go figure. That's going to be my mantra for you Nat, IT WILL GET BETTER and it will be your due to your strong will and besides, Nancy will not stand for anything less. I love you all and can't wait to come and clean the kitchen!
Ginger & Joe
Natalie and Family,
We just wanted to say Happy New Year's and I'm glad to hear that everyone went out for a while. I read today's update and was happy to hear about her breathing and the scheduled facial surgery. The saddest part of the update was that we might not be getting daily updates anymore. That is what I look forward to every night when I get home from work. Maybe Nancy or someone could tell us something daily, anything, even if it's just what color her gown was that day. Any small piece of info makes us feel like we're close, eventhough we're in a different state. I love you guys and hope to visit as soon as you feel the time is right.
Love, Lauren and Belinda

It's your choice: Listen to the whisper, or wait for the brick.
Happy New Years 2008 to Natalie (HANG IN THERE NATALIE) and the entire Schneider family. 24 hours breathing on your own is a big plus. Wishing and hoping everything goes great on Wednesday with surgery. Once again, we will be thinking of you and reading the updates. Sounds like Dad , Max and Derik got back from Texas O.K. Thank goodness. Tom and Nancy have as good as time as to to be expected on this New Years. Max, Derik and Laura be careful and have fun. Dear Nancy, You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. We miss you. Love, Carol and your other tennis buddies
Dear Natalie,LuLu,Tom,Max,Nancy and Derek,
I am thinking of ya'll in my prayers and mind. The other day I was sitting in my mom's office just thinking then Natalie came to mind and I started to feel a tear roll down my face. Now I know that God and the docs are going to take care of her. I just thought of a verse that came into my mind that reminded me of Natalie and ya'll about doing stuff with her and how ya'll can do so many things about the things ya'll are going through. "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me" (Phil.4:13) Right now I'm wearing a shirt that says
that verse. I love ya'll so much.

Nancy,
I have sat down to write to you so many times but words just seem inadequate. I need to hug you!! Hug all of you. I follow Natalie's updates everyday, and no matter if it's a good day or a bad day, my heart just breaks for all of you. I'm glad Natalie has a family that is so strong and full of love. Please know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers. If I can do anything, let me know. Love, Kay
Nancy –
I went by Mom’s yesterday and learned of Natalie’s accident. Our whole family sends their love to Natalie and all of you. Hang in there.
The web site is great. It keeps us informed without putting more stress on you.
Mother’s caregiver mentioned that you might be looking for a dog for Natalie. Lea Ann (my dog whisperer daughter) is ready to advise you on that project whenever you are ready to begin.
Right now you’re taking each day as it comes. But, she will get better and you’ll begin to get a handle on what her disabilities might be. Give us a call and we’ll go over who to call and what to ask for.
From the web site it appears you have plenty of help. Don’t hesitate to call on us if we can do something.
Jack Shearer
Hey Natalie

Dear Natalie,
I was the Administrative Assistant at the Downtown Marriott for nearly 18 years and when you would come into the Executive Office to visit your Dad, sometimes he was busy and you'd sit and visit with me. I always thought you were so outgoing and I knew how much you loved your family. Your stories were funny and full of life. Please know that you have so many people praying for your recovery and each and every one of us knows how precious you are to so many people. The saying "when one door closes, another door opens" will have new meaning in your life. What all of these wonderful people that have responed on this site tells me is that you will swing open that door and meet any challenge before you. You are in my prayers every day. Jeanne Porter (Retired)
Natalie,
Until Callaway this summer, I barely knew you. You were my older cousin and it seemed impossible to keep up with you. The "older cousins" and I interacted but I always felt too young, too distant. But this year at Callaway you were telling people "Jessica's grown up!" And as proud as you were of me, I was even more proud of you. We all were and are so proud of you. I constantly heard "Have you seen Natalie? She looks so good and you should really sit down and talk to her, she has so many good things to say." And you did Natalie, you took me under your wing and I could never thank you enough for treating me like I had always been a good friend of yours. The last time I talked to you I called you after my school won a big football game and we swapped life updates; you were still in Texas but you had just visited your family and you were so glad to have seen them. Natalie, you of all people truly appreciated the love of family, the people you somehow ended up on this earth with and I only wish everyone could love their family as much as you do. You are remarkable Nat, we all know that and I think you have started to see that as well. I love you, and I am with you always.
Endless prayers for Natalie and all of you Schneiders,
Jessica Kennedy
Nancy, Tom, Natalie and family,

Hello Natalie.
Just want to thank Cynthia for the updates everyday, she has done a wonderful job keeping everyone informed.. We have thought of you and your family since the day the Zellers told of us of the terrible accident. Our prayers and thoughts have been with you since then. The following are inspirational thoughts & stories submitted by Barbara Russell:
Life Is A Gift
Today before you think of saying an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to God for a companion.
Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to heaven.
Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.
Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn't clean or sweep - Think of the people who are living in the streets.
Before whining about the distance you drive - Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.
And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.
But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another - Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.
And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and thank God you're alive and still around.
Life is a gift, Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, And fulfill it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
And need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I! am worth it.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!
Share this with somebody who already has this understanding, as reinforcement. But more importantly, share this with those who do not have a clear understanding of what it means to be a Christian, so that the myth that Christians think they are "perfect" or "better than others" can be dispelled.

CHRISTIAN WAYS TO REDUCE STRESS ...
An Angel says, "Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice."
1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.
5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety . If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest.
18. Eat right.
19 Get organized so everything has its place.
20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.
25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good "Thank you Jesus."
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).
31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most)..
32. Sit on your ego.
33 Talk less; listen more.
34. Slow down.
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.
36 . Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before. GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU.
"If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31)

Schneider Family,
God does not give us more than we can handle. But, He never says he won't test us or challenge us. Today Natalie has been challenged and she will come out victorious. Even when we pray we have to remember that God will heal Natalie the way He wants to heal Natalie. Continued prayers coming your way.
Always~ Rhonda Paluk
Hi Natalie. I am not sure if you will remember me or not, but my dad (Eddie) used to coach Derek in football when he played with the Bombers. Your dad still comes over to play poker with my dad also on occasion!
Anyway, I just want to let you know that I am praying for you and that your strength, as well as your families, will pull you through this tragic event. No matter the outcome, you are still alive and what could be better than that? After reading your updates, it seems that you are doing nothing except getting better with each day.
Be strong (like you have been) and in no time you will be back to living your life in the comfort of your own home.
I wish you the best, and I am praying for you and your family.
I will leave you with this, seeing as how the New Year is right around the corner...
~ Every day is a new beginning. Treat it that way. Stay away from what might have been, and look at what can be. ~

Dear Schneider Family,
We have been so saddened to hear of Natalie’s accident, but encouraged as we read about her progress day to day. I have been paying close attention to the log each day as I know how hard it must be during the holidays, and I consider it a great blessing that she has been able to breathe on her own. I know it may not mean much right now, but I am a big believer in faith and leaving it in God’s hands. I have faith that your love for Natalie will keep her with you.Tom, if there is anything we can do for you during this time, please do not hesitate to call me. I will be happy to help in any way you need. We are all praying for you and your family every day.
God bless you all.
Sincerely,
John Kirby
Hi Natalie,
I have never met you but I am a friend of your Aunt Sarah. I wanted you to know that you and your loving family are being lifted up in prayer daily. I ask God to wrap his arms around you and give you strength and healing and the grace to handle all that you are going through. You have a wonderful family and many loving friends who are very concerned about you. Know that you are loved! A friend from Florida - Pamm
Dear Natalie,
We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers each and every day. You are such a fighter...you continue to make great progress and we can only thank God for keeping you in the palm of his hands. I had the opportunity to visit with you and your mom again yesterday and you would be so proud of her! She is such a tower of strength & hope. Your family's commitment to you is unwavering, a love that knows no bounds. Your progress has been remarkable since that morning I saw you at Centerpoint...a testimony to the excellent care of the medical professionals around you and the prayers of so many. To see you breathing on your own was a miracle. Continue to fight, Natalie! We continue to pray for you and your family, The Fergusons
Dear Schneider Family,
I wanted you to know that my family is continuing to keep Natalie, you, and Natalie's medical team in our prayers. It is wonderful to see that Natalie is making progress. Our love to all of you. Katherine Barton, BSSD
Dear Natalie,
I just wanted to write you a quick little note. You don’t know me, but I have heard SO much about you! Ginger sits by me at work, and I was here with her when she got the horrible news of your accident. She had told me so many stories of you and your family prior, and shown me pictures, so even though I don’t know you all, it sure feels like I do. I want you and your family to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers daily. Ginger has everyone in our Dept. pulling for you Natalie. We read this website daily and keep up on your progress. I can tell you are a fighter, and I know you and your family will make it through this trying time with flying colors. HANG IN THERE GIRL!!!In closing, I want to thank you. As odd as it may sound to you, I will quickly explain. I am 32 with 3 boys. 12, 11, and 7. My parents and brother and sister and I haven’t been very close for a long time. I hope that this doesn’t come off strange, but the strength of everyone (including you) and the love that shows so deeply even through a website on the computer is powerful and fulfilling. You and your family reminded me how important family is, and how unimportant the little minor squabbles are. You are a true blessing to some of us who have never had the honor of meeting you, and I can’t begin to imagine how much to those who have. Get Better Soon Natalie! The ENTIRE ARV Dept. at Yellowbook USA are praying for you.
All our love- Tanja Halstead

Dear Natalie,
I heard that your mom is going to print out all of the notes people have written you and read them to you in the hospital tomorrow. As she reads them to you I know you will be as overwhelmed as I was at the support and love that is expressed by all of your friends and family. I want you to know that not a day goes by that I don't think about you! Now get some good rest and come back to us as soon as you can.
Aunt Sarah
Dear Natalie,
Yesterday, I was going through a box of old mementos and I came across a button that has the cutest little photo of you and me printed inside of it. I figure it was taken the summer when you came to visit in Atlanta for a week before Calloway. You were 8 and I was 9. Remember when we got lost in the ghetto, trying to find the coca cola museum?! Anyway, i pinned the button onto my purse, so I can take you with me everywhere I go. I love you, Nat, and I'm praying for ya'!!
Love, Rachel
Hey Natalie,
I am actually a friend of Kathryn Saunders and have been praying for her and she wrote about you on her website. I have visited your website and just wanted to let you know that you and your family have been added to my prayer list. I have had a couple of friends that have gone through similar experiences that you are going through now and they are doing fine as I know you will too. Just give yourself time. I pray the Lord will be with you and your family in the days ahead.

The warmth, caring and friendship you have poured out to your friends and neighbors comes back to you now and rightfully so. We all send your family caring thoughts and prayers; we give a double amount to Natalie.
Our friends are among life's greatest treasure. What would we do without friends to navigate life's difficulties? Our friends guide us through parenthood and walk with us through midlife and beyond; they know our fantasizes, they help to calm our fears. With our friends we cry without shame knowing that they are our friends and that they will understand.
To all the Schneiders we send our strength of faith and friendship. We
send our love and support. Keep your spirits up- The darkest hour is
the best time to see the Stars!
When you have seen each day with great courage and great patience and when you have laboriously accomplished your daily tasks, go to sleep in peace. God is awake.

My Dearest Natalie, Once again It was a pleasure to spend Christmas with all the Schneider's.I got to spend some time alone with you and your looking good girl! We had a serious talk and I know some of the things we chatted about you didn't like but you are strong and your heart and soul will guide you along the way. You will make it a journey and with all of our hands we will help you get there.Your parents are watching over you every minute and their love will only make you stronger. Max, Laura and Derek are keeping the virgil over their big 'sis' also.I spent some time with them at the hospital and you are blessed with some great brothers and a sister. I'm home here in Iowa but I left you with my 'heart'. I know so well were you our at but keep fighting I'm with you all the way! I will see you soon.LOVE YOU Aunt Charlene
Hey there, my sweet Nat. Mom and I miss you. Oh, and Joe just told me to tell you that he says hello and misses your discipline. He's so big now. I've sent a few more pictures today. I think you'd like them. Ok, I guess I'll go to bed now so I can get up for work in the morning. We've got a party at ROCC and the party where they're shipping in 40,000 lbs. of snow. Loads of fun. Love you and can't wait to see you soon. Luv.

What good news about her eye surgery. I can just picture it healing. Thank you so much for updating the site. I'm a friend of Jerry and Sarah in Iuka. I just received her e-mail today and would like to share my personal experience with your family.
My son David, when he was 7, was involved in a accident. He was riding a bicycle he couldn't stop and ran head first into the side of a moving car. He was air lifted to Tupelo and then air lifted to a childrens hospital in Memphis. David was in a coma and given very little chance of surviving. He had a closed head injury with severe facial fractures and a broken leg. David was in a coma for over a month and remained in the hospital for three months. He had a shunt and his short term memory was greatly affected.
David is now 23 and taking care of himself. He has some limitations but able to enjoy much that life has to offer. We want Natalies family to know we are thinking about her and praying for her and her family. Use your faith to handle each day and lean on the Lord for strength.

Dear Tom, Nancy, Laura, Max and Derek,
Just wanted to let you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers on this Christmas Day. We were so happy to read the good news about Natalie's progress and that she is responding to Nancy's touch and voice. We hope God gives you strength through this most difficult time. We pray for that Christmas miracle for Natalie too -- all is possible with God.
We hope to see you soon.
Love,
Gary and Jennifer
I just wanted to wish you guys a Merry Christmas. Today at my Dad's house, we prayed for Natalie in our blessing before we ate lunch. Everyone here is thinking of her, and my family in Waco has been praying for her since the accident, as well as their church family.
Nancy and Tom- It was nice talking to you last night. Thank you so much for calling.
Natalie- I love you so, and will be coming to spend time with you as soon as possible. I'll probably make some jewelry while I'm there, you know I can't go anywhere without it! Hopefully, definitely, within the next month. Stay Strong. Luv.
Lauren

Merry Christmas Natalie!
Last night as your Uncle Jerry & I sat in Church Christmas Eve I kept thinking about your determined spirit. It reminded me of when you were a little girl and you and Max came to stay with me in Mississippi when your mom & dad had the twins. You were three and a half and Max had just turned two. I told you that I was going to fold some clothes and you were to watch TV and NOT wake up Max who was taking his nap. I wasn’t gone long and when I returned there you stood holding Max’s hand with a look of determination in your eyes. That time your determination got you in big trouble with your Aunt Sarah and you had to stand in the corner. This time I think that same determination is getting you through all of this. So keep up the fight Natalie-we all want you back.
Love,
Aunt Sarah

Dear Natalie,
Have a peaceful Christmas Eve. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. I love you!
Your godmother,

I can't begin to describe how it makes me feel on a daily basis, reading this web site, thanking God for the improvements, no matter how small, for the hope that they bring is so important to have. My immense gratitude to Cynthia who so poignantly puts the latest updates making them intelligible to those who aren't medical transcriptionists! and the web master who has done an outstanding job keeping the site up to date during this busy holiday season and the multitudes of notes, encouragement prayers and well wishes to our Natalie and the entire Schneider family. Tom and Nancy you are an inspiration to us, the fierce family bond you have has always amazed us and we are certain it WILL make her whole and well again. Merry Christmas Nat, you are never too far from our thoughts and prayers and always in our hearts. We love you madly and will see you all soon.

Dear Nancy,Tom, Max, Natalie, Laura & Derek:
The first question, when something like this happens is, why does bad things happen to good people? I guess we will not know until we get to face HIM and ask. Please know that everytime we pray for our son, Natalie's name will be on the same breath. Nancy I remember you letting me cry on your shoulder, even though we are miles apart, reach out and I will be there in spirit and prayer. Natalie, you are from great stock, keep fighting. May God bless you and make you well.
Kenyon & Carol Bee
Dear Uncle Tom, Aunt Nancy, Natalie, Max, Laura and Derek:
I wanted to send you all best wishes and prayers from Atlanta. I have been thinking of Nat all the time, and hoping and praying for the best. I have heard various stories of all of you showing heroism and bravery, love and adoration in this horrible time. It really shows what a strong family you all are. As I am sure you have noticed, you have a whole lot of love and strength behind you guys, and that in itself is a Christmas Miracle. But we will hold out for more miracles, while thanking G-d for the ones that we already have. All the best. Love, Cousin / Nephew Justin
Merry Christmas! I know this isn't the Christmas that you were thinking of a few weeks ago, but you have received the Christmas miracle with Natalie's continued progress. Remember that you're not alone. You are surrounded by friends and family who love you and are pulling for all of you. We are all here for you, praying for you.

Natalie,
I've never been good with situations like these! Please know that even before this, you held a special place in my heart! I say a prayer for you everyday and I read about your progress. Thank God for the improvement!!! I am so excited about your improvement, I am grateful for the opportunities of improvment. In my family's christmas past, we have been where your family is now, but we didn't have the chances for improvment.
I know you are strong and you have aquired that quality from your family!
I look forward to coming by to see you! Lucas would love to sit and watch basketball games with you! He is 2 1/2yrs old now, and such a sports fan ( he would love to play any sport with you). I look forward to bringing him by so you can hear his voice and the crazy things he says! He amazes us everyday with how much he can say and think of! He is a busy body, much like you were when we worked at the Raphael! You must have rubbed off when he was still in my tummy!
I pray that God will keep his healing hands on you and keep you and your family safe from any further harm!
Love,
Kelly, Jason, Enzo and Lucas Mayo

Dear Natalie, Max, Laura, Derek, Nancy, and Tom,
I'm not really sure what to say, except that my heart goes out to all of yall in this horrific time of tragedy. I really wish that I could be there with everybody, but I've first need to save up a little money in order to make a trip out there. Meanwhile, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with yall all the time. This goes without saying, but Natalie and I have an extraordinarily unique and special relationship. We are a paradox of commonalities and differences. The commonalities refers to gender, age, bloodline and hot headedness. While our differences are merely on the surface. Regardless of anything and everything, we have always understood each other and it breaks my heart to think of her in pain. I love you all tremendously and I want to do anything I can to help.
Love, Rachel (Saunders #18)
Dear Strong Family,

To Nat- I love you and miss you. I saw a yard full of flamingo's Friday and of course thought of you. Hopefully I can keep the Flocking flowing. Hang in there, sweetie. Luv.

Dear Natalie and the entire Schneider Family,
I recently heard the news from my brother and wanted to let you know all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Forgive me, it is hard to find the words to say. Our brothers grew up together, Derek and Colin forever made me laugh with there back and forth arguments, and Derek was, of course, always right. The two of them quickly became the best of friends. Back in the day, you and I had many memories together and even more recently, reunited and continued to laugh and have fun. When I heard about the accident, it set me back. You and I are the same age, and I admire your fight. And I know you are a fighter girl, you always have been tough! My mother has become very involved in following your progress. Our families have been tied together in so many ways for so many years. I know you got this beat, you are so strong. You and your family are constantly in my thoughts and prayers, and I will continue to check your progress. I am blessed to know you and your family, and I know you still got a lot of fight in you girl. I know I speak for the entire Miller/Hoener when I say if you need anything at all, we are all here for you.

Schneider’s—you all our in our thought and prayers and may you find strength through God. Just a few short years ago we went through a car accident involving our son. He survived with no serious accidents. He is walking proof that the grace of God exists. Through all the times ahead, please remember that the grace of God will take care of Natalie. Love and Prayers, The Shrum’s…..
Tom, Nancy and Family
We understand how patience will be tested. When Maggie was unconscious after our car wreck, waiting was the worse. The day she woke up was the best day of our lives. It will be for you as well when Natalie wakes. We understand now that God and his angels do not always work as fast as we wish but we want the job to be complete when she wakes. We pray for your patience and strength for the medical staff. They truly are capable of working miracles. Keep believing. The strength of your family, friends and the grace of God will carry Natalie and all through this horrible time. Keep hugging each other, cry, and talk to Natalie. Maggie will sometime recall something that we never thought that she could hear or tell us about something she remembers when she was unconscious that we had forgot about! It is truly an amazing, indescribable gift. Keep talking to Natalie it will help to strengthen her!

Nancy and Tom -
I can only imagine what you are going through. I have met you both briefly in the neighborhood, but do not know either of you well. However, that doesn't mean I can't pray for you and your family - for strength and healing. I believe there is power in prayer and never too much prayer. I just wanted to let you and your family that my husband and I are praying for you. Please call on us if there is anything at all we can do.

Natalie – I ran into your mom at Hobby Lobby several days ago. I wished I could have chatted more. I always have enjoyed your mom and your family. You have an admirable strength in your family that is rare. And strength is what we all need. We have our hearts filled with prayers, and hopes and love for all of you. In God’s strength we can find what we need – and we are all here for whatever needs you have. We love you, happy belated birthday. Next year we will celebrate again. Love to you Nancy, Tom, Max, Derek and Laura. From, Greta, Emily, Colin, and Maura. God bless all of you.
Natalie. Stay strong, you're doing a good job. Our thoughts and prayers are always with you. Keith and Joanne Hicks ( Cindy Famuliner's parents)
Hello Schneider family. I hope you receive the 2 photos I've sent. The first one is of Lauren and Natalie's first homemade flocking. We had not yet received the signs in the mail, and we had no flamingos at my house. We wanted to flock my mom, so we just made the sign and the bird. It was so much fun! The other picture was taken at the Cadillac Bar when Laura came to visit. In the photo are Belinda, Sondra, Lauren, JP, Laura, and Natalie. Everyone had a blast! I love the website and look forward to reading it everyday. I am thinking of Natalie and your family constantly and have you in my prayers. That's one strong girl you have! I want to come and visit as soon as you think the time is right. Take care and stay strong. Oh, and please let me know if I can do absolutely anything to help with the house in Conroe.

Dear Natalie,
I was remembering today the year at Callaway when you decided we would be buddies and hang out together. You must have been about 5 or 6. You followed me around like a shadow and sat with me at the family dinners. Of all your aunts, I was not exactly the warm and outgoing one, but you didn’t care. You decided you were going to hang out with your Aunt Ceeta. You asked me all sorts of questions, rather profound ones for such a young girl, and told me you liked it that I talked to you like a grownup. Even then I could see that you were a strong personality, that you new what you liked and wanted, and weren’t afraid to step up and take the lead. I imagine that girl, that little go-getter inside your torn and wounded body, and I hope you can hear my heart now – go, Nat, go. Take the lead. Come back to us.
With love - Cynthia/aka Aunt Ceeta
My cousin is a friend of her mom's and sent me a request for prayers.
Praying for a speedy recovery. Get well.
Dear Natalie, Family, and Friends...
I learned of your situation through Ashley Maybee, with whom I work. Many of us who teach are with you in heart, spirit, and prayer. Should a need arise, you need only say the word. We wish you God's Blessings these Holidays to all of you and yours.
Best wishes,
James E. Whedbee
Dear Nancy,
I just wanted you to know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I'm glad you have such a wonderful family to support you. If I can ever help please let me know. I will continue to follow Natelie's progress through the web site and think of all you. Love, Kay
Tom, Nancy, Natalie, Laura, and Derek please know that your family is in my every thought and prayer. You are such a wonderful family and may God give you strength. Natalie, I will never forget when you started in my class when you moved here. From day one you have meant so much to me. Through you, I got to meet your wonderful family and you all mean so much to me! Love-shelly neuweg
Natalie,
I can't believe that this has happened to you and I have been praying for you. If anyone is strong it is you, and you can overcome this. I know you are fighting for your family and friends. Happy belated b-day. I remember your 21st- seems like yesterday. Your dad got the bus to take us out and he even made a special stop at Osco to get batteries so we could listen to music. We were all like your dad is so awesome! We had a blast. Your mom thanked us because we inspired you to dress "girly." (ha ha) Hang in there girl....... we are all praying for you!

To the Schneider's
I don't hardly know what to say, this is so unreal. I don't know the rest of you all that well, but Nancy, I do know that you have incredible strength and have a feeling the rest of the family does too. I know you are all very close, and that's one of the best things you have going now. Use that strength, that drive, and the love from family and friends to do this. You know that prayers are coming from all over and that's such an important thing. God's listening and will pass it on to you guys. You will all make it and you'll come out of this even closer.
If you guys need anything - laundry thrown in, the house picked up, plants watered, a meal dropped off - really anything at all, I'm just down the street from you, and I'm in midtown everyday so I'm always about halfway to anywhere.

I have been following the update on the website. I am so sorry to hear about this tragic event and all of the days that have followed. You all are in my prayers.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (New International Version) The God of All Comfort 3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

Oh Nancy...
How many times have you and I discussed our life journey. I am so sorry this has to be part of your journey. You are a tremendously strong woman and will somehow manage to cope. I have been praying for Natalie and your family and will continue to keep you in my prayers. A big "thank you" to your sister's for maintaining the website so all your friends can support you during this difficult time and keep the power of prayer strong. I'm here for you when you need me.

Dear Schneiders, Uncle Julius has emailed to me the following… I am so sorry to hear about your niece's accident. From reading the progress reports on the web, it seems to me that they are doing everything just right. As your family knows, Natalie is in a situation where her status can change moment-to-moment. The doctors are being honest when they say, "we don't know about causes and the long-term outlook at this point." As discomforting and disconcerting as that is, their responses show they are being straightforward with the family and are remaining vigilant on all fronts, addressing the most critical issues, such as increased intracranial pressure and maintenance of vital signs, respiration, and blood flow, and trying to identify and prevent other adverse effects. I know of nothing else to suggest at this point. I will continue checking the web site for updates. Best wishes and prayers for Natalie, you, and all your family! Julius Linn
Dear Natalie and Schneiders,
I just learned last night about your accident and condition. You will be in my thoughts and prayers until you are well again. I pray that you and your family have strength and comfort from God. Hang in there and keep fighting to get well. You are a determined young woman who can do all that is asked of you. For the family, I will continue to pray for your strength and comfort. If there is ANYTHING, that I can do for you, please let me know.

Dear Tom, Nancy and family,
John and I were so sorry to hear about Natalie. I know this must be overwhelming for you all and one of my prayers is you will continue to have peace and calm to sustain the long journey ahead of you. My son Mike graduated with Natalie and was a friend of hers. Nancy, remember we always thought they had so much in common. I contacted Mike and he sends his love.
I know everything is chaos now, but please hang on to the fact that your family and Natalie are being lifted constantly in prayer and thanksgiving. The love and strength of others will keep you going. Remember to utilize this resource of love in anyway you can. There are a lot of concerned people waiting to hear as to what they can do to help. Please know I am here for errands, food, listening or whatever you may need. 224-6560, 229-7679. Feel free to call.
I leave this with you, When you don't see His plan, When you can't trace His hand, Trust His heart. You are all in my prayers.
God Bless, Billie Hardy

Tom, Nancy, Natalie, Max, Laura and Derek:
You ALL have been in our thoughts and prayers since we read the dreadful news of Natalie's accident in the Examiner. We are keeping vigil through the website and know that ALL of you are in God's loving care.
Please have comfort in knowing that your friends, both old and new, are sharing your sadness and anxiousness through this time. We have every faith in all of you, in Natalie's spirit and enthusiasm for living, and in God who carries all of us through every trial.
Our love and prayers are with you at this difficult time. STAY STRONG and FAITHFUL!

Hi Nancy,
Florence sent the news about Natalie and I wanted to write you and let you know ya'll are in my prayers. I am going to put Natalie in the prayer basket at my church and have her added to the "reiki train". I do not know if you are familiar with reiki, but it is a form of spiritual healing. We believe this is the same kind of healing that Christ used. I am not a master, but am a level II, so I can send healing. When someone is on the reiki train, reiki masters all over the world will send healing several times a day. Miracles can and do happen.
After so much time and space between us, I still feel love for you and your family very strongly. I am thankful that you have your family to support you, and please know that the Mosses are with you in spirit too. Much Love, Isabelle
Hello Natalie and the whole Schneider family.
Just a little note to let you all know that I am thinking of you. You are in my prayers. I have my prayer partners also lifting you up in the Name of Jesus. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. I pray for complete healing and comfort, for you, Natalie. And that the Lord will send His angles to watch over you as you go through this process. All things are done on Gods time and He is a on time God. He will see you through. I pray for strenght, endurance, patience and love for the Schneider family. Do look to the hills from where your strenght cometh from, your strenght cometh from the Lord. Take care...the Cutchlow's love you all......Michy
Natalie and Family,
I just wanted to let you know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. I remember back in the day when Natalie and I swam together in high school. She always seemed to add a little “spunk” to practice. I also recall a few times in the summer when Nancy and I played tennis together up at Courtside. How quickly the years have passed. I will keep praying for all of you during this difficult time. If there is anything you need, please do not hesitate to ask. – Cindy Couch

Dear Nancy and Tom,
Just wanted to let you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers in these most difficult times. Natalie is like a daughter to me and I was so sad when she moved from Houston. She is one of the strongest young ladies I know and she WILL recover from this in time. She is blessed to have such a wonderful family and so many friends to be there for her. If there is anything Lauren or I can do or if you need any help packing or moving her things from Conroe, please don't hesitate to call. We love her and miss her and Maximus so much. Please give her a great big hug and kiss from us and stay strong for each other.

Nancy and Family,
We were so saddened to hear of Natalies accident. Renee emailed us the news. Please know that you are in our prayers and thoughts every day. As a mother and friend my heart goes out to your family. I wish I were there to help out – and offer a hug. Be strong and positiveJ--Love and Prayers, Mary Smith and Family
Praise God for his mercies. To see in black and white what we should be praying for is wonderful. There are many things to praise God for .... you've made several milestones. Ban together and pray. I loved the "thorns" story as all to often we forget our blessings and focus only on the negative. I know God answers prayers but we must lift them to him so they may be answered.
Love Rhonda Paluk (aka Rachel's sister)
Schneiders, Just wanted to let you know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know if we can help in any way. Jim and Karin Finley

Dear Natalie,
Today I've been particularly sad - having to leave you and your family, returning to my own in North Carolina. It was so hard to leave my Nancy - my big sister whose heart you got. It was a long trek and I could only wallow in my sadness and cry thinking of the days ahead, and the few days we've all been a part of this tragedy. I wanted to let you know that I sat beside a priest on the airplane and he said he and his traveling friend, also a priest, would add you to their rosary and pray for you too. I don't know his name or denomination, just said we can use all the prayers possible to get you well. I threw my arms around my kids when I finally got home an hour ago and wept. They love you too, Miss Natalie, and they need you to come back and mentor them as they pass through dangerous years ahead. They'd much rather you wagged your finger at them than their old Mom, so I'm hoping you'll come back and teach them a thing or two from your own experiences. It takes a village and your village is currently chanting and praying and wailing and rooting. WE WANT OUR NATALIE BACK HOME...the lights are on and we will wait to see your beautiful smile. I love you!-- Aunt Becka
Nancy,
Liz called me earlier this evening and I just got an email from Becka. My deepest emotions go out to you at this time. I can't decide what is the most merciful thing to wish for you and Natalie at this moment. All I can say is breath deeply, hug someone you care about and get some rest.--KINDEST REGARDS,
ANGELA COMFORT

Thorns
Thorns We often try to fix problems with WD-40 and Duct tape. God did it with nails. Please take the time to read this even though its longer than the usual e-mail, it's also more heartwarming and meaningful than some of the usual e-mails.
Sandra felt as low as the heels of her shoes when she pulled open the florist shop door, against a November gust of wind. Her life had been as sweet as a spring breeze and then, in the fourth month of her second pregnancy, a "minor" automobile accident stole her joy. This was Thanksgiving week and the time she should have delivered their infant son. She grieved over their loss.
Troubles had multiplied. Her husband's company "threatened" to transfer his job to a new location. Her sister had called to say that she could not come for her long awaited holiday visit. What's worse, Sandra's friend suggested that Sandra's grief was a God-given path to maturity that would allow her to empathize with others who suffer. "She has no idea what I'm feeling," thought Sandra with a shudder.
"Thanksgiving? Thankful for what?" she wondered. "For a careless driver whose truck was hardly scratched when he rear-ended her? For an airbag that saved her life, but took her child's?""Good afternoon, can I help you?"
Sandra was startled by the approach of the shop clerk. "I .. . . I need an arrangement," stammered Sandra.
"For Thanksgiving? I'm convinced that flowers tell stories, " she continued. "Are you looking for something that conveys 'gratitude' this Thanksgiving?"
"Not exactly!" Sandra blurted out. "In the last five months, everything that could go wrong has gone wrong."
Sandra regretted her outburst, and was surprised when the clerk said, "I have the perfect arrangement for you."
Then the bell on the door rang, and the clerk greeted the new customer, "Hi, Barbara, let me get your order." She excused herself and walked back to a small workroom, then quickly reappeared, carrying an arrangement of greenery, bows, and what appeared to be long-stemmed thorny roses. Except, the ends of the rose stems were neatly snipped: there were no flowers.
"Do you want these in a box?" asked the clerk. Sandra watched - was this a joke? Who would want rose stems with no flowers! She waited for laughter, but neither woman laughed.
"Yes, please," Barbara replied with an appreciative smile. "You'd think after three years of getting the special, I wouldn't be so moved by its significance, but I can feel it right here, all over again," she said, as she gently tapped her chest.
Sandra stammered, "Ah, that lady just left with . . .. uh . . . she left with no flowers!"
"That's right," said the clerk. "I cut off the flowers.. That's the 'Special'. I call it the Thanksgiving Thorns Bouquet. Barbara came into the shop three years ago, feeling much as you do today," explained the clerk. "She thought she had very little to be thankful for. She had just lost her father to cancer; the family business was failing; her son had gotten into drugs; and she was facing major surgery. That same year I had lost my husband," continued the clerk. "For the first time in my life, I had to spend the holidays alone. I had no children, no husband, no family nearby, and too
much debt to allow any travel.""So what did you do?" asked Sandra.
"I learned to be thankful for thorns," answered the clerk quietly. "I've always thanked God for the good things in my life and I never questioned Him why those good things happened to me, but when the bad stuff hit, I cried out, 'Why? Why me?!' It took time for me to learn that the dark times are important to our faith! I have always enjoyed the 'flowers' of my life, but it took the thorns to show me the beauty of God's comfort!
You know, the Bible says that God comforts us when we're afflicted, and from His consolation we learn to comfort others."Sandra sucked in her breath, as she thought about what her friend had tried to tell her. "I guess the truth is I don't want comfort. I've lost a baby and I'm angry with God."
Just then someone else walked in the shop.
"Hey, Phil!" the clerk greeted the balding, rotund man.
"My wife sent me in to get our usual Thanksgiving arrangement .. . twelve thorny, long-stemmed stems!" laughed Phil as the clerk handed him a tissue wrapped arrangement from the refrigerator."Those are for your wife?" asked Sandra incredulously. "Do you mind telling me why she wants a bouquet that looks like that?"
"Four years ago, my wife and I nearly divorced," Phil replied. "After forty years, we were in a real mess, but with the Lord's grace and guidance, we trudged through problem after problem, the Lord rescued our marriage. Jenny here (the clerk) told me she kept a vase of rose stems to remind her of what she had learned from "thorny" times. That was good enough for me. I took home some of those stems. My wife and I decided to label each one for a specific "problem" and give thanks for what that problem taught us."
As Phil paid the clerk, he said to Sandra, "I highly recommend the Special!"
"I don't know if I can be thankful for the thorns in my life" Sandra said to the clerk. "It's all too . . . fresh."
"Well," the clerk replied carefully, "my experience has shown me that the thorns make the roses more precious. We treasure God's providential care more during trouble than at any other time. Remember that it was a crown of thorns that Jesus wore so we might know His love. Don't resent the thorns."
Tears rolled down Sandra's cheeks. For the first time since the accident, she loosened her grip on her resentment.
"I'll take those twelve long-stemmed thorns, please," she managed to choke out.
"I hoped you would," said the clerk gently. "I'll have them ready in a minute."
"Thank you. What do I owe you?"
"Nothing. Nothing but a promise to allow God to heal your heart The first year's arrangement is always on me."
The clerk smiled and handed a card to Sandra. "I'll attach this card to your arrangement, but maybe you would like to read it first."
It read:
"My God, I have never thanked You for my thorns. I have thanked You a thousand times for my roses, but never once for my thorns. Teach me the glory of the cross I bear; teach me the value of my thorns Show me that I have climbed closer to You along the path of pain. Show me that, through my tears, the colors of Your rainbow look much more brilliant."
Praise Him for the roses; thank Him for the thorns.
God Bless all of you. Be thankful for all that the Lord does for you.
"Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God."
We often try to fix problems with WD-40 and Duct tape God did it with nails.
I'm the worlds worst at not thanking God for my thorns, only for the roses.
My prayer today is to start being thankful for the thorns I know they will help me grow. I pray this for you also.
Tom and Family, this just made my heart hurt, i know it broke your familys heart. Thank-you for the website and sharing Natalie with us. The 7 Ups!
- Wake Up !! Decide to have a good day. "This is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24
- Dress Up !! The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks."The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." I Samuel 16:7
- Shut Up!! Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking. "He who guards his lips guards his soul." Proverbs 13:3
- Stand Up!! we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good..." Galatians 6:9-10
- Look Up !! . . to the Lord. "I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me". Philippians 4:13
- Reach Up !! . . for something higher. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6
- Lift Up !!

A POSITIVE THOUGHT
If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring, and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen.
He could live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.
What about the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem; not to mention that Friday at Calvary. Face it, He's crazy about you.Invite people here that you care about. I thought this was mighty special, just like you. Pass this on and brighten someone's day, and remember . . . God answers Knee-Mail! --Barabra Russell

Nancy and Tom and the kids,
I want you to know there are so many people praying for Natalie. My rabbi offered to have one of his colleagues out there come to see you if you would like. Debbie and Harriet and so many others who you have known over the years are sending their prayers to you. Also, I want to tell you of the encouraging words I heard from someone here whose son-in-law was injured in Iraq with tremendous medical problems never expected to live, etc. but now has a full life with his family and the only way you can tell is a prosthetic leg. She said to hold onto your hopes, that miracles happen. She also has offered to call you if you want someone like this to talk to. So many people are pulling for Natalie. I am thinking of you all the time. My love - Susan Barry
P.S. Nancy, I was so blown away with your strength and love while I was there. You are an inspiration to me!

I pray that out of God's glorious riches he may strengthen you'll with power through his Spirit in your inner being, during this time. I will continue to lift you up in prayer daily Natalie. -- Aaron D. Cutchlow
Natalie, I remember how you used to sit under the table at Callaway and listen to the adults. That is how you got all the gossip. Listening to the grown ups gave you a wisdom and strength that was beyond your years. I think of you now like that- listening to all the things going on around you and I know you are taking notes. You took all of the things you learned and became a person who does not hesitate- does not hold back. That is how I see you now. I know you are in a place we do not understand and cannot really speak intelligently about, but I see you taking action there. I know you are not hesitating and not holding back. You are doing what it takes to achieve the things you want. Lastly, you are a fighter. No one will deny that if they know you. I know that while you lie there listening and taking charge of your world as it is, you are fighting like a mad dog to come back to us. You are loving your family and doing everything you can to help them through this by giving them hope. You got that gene (Jean) that makes you a fighter and there is no doubt in my mind that you will do all you can to overcome. My heart is with you and we are praying for you. I pray that God puts His loving arms around you and that you know He is there with you. He will give you strength that even you do not have, trust that. We love you.--Sarah Ellen
Natalie & the Schneider family,

Father God, Infinite in Grace and Mercy, we ask You to hold this young lady in Your arms and heal her of her wounds. Help her family to cope with this most terrible tragedy. Allow the family to feel the prayers of strangers, like myself, that only know of Natalie through PTA prayer requests. I know nothing about Natalie, but reading about her on this site has proved to me that she is loved immensely and that there are many of us praying for her. Wrap Your Protection, Healing, Love and Comfort around them like a warm blanket. Help them to truly feel Your Presence in this situation. I pray for complete healing, but ultimately that Your Will be done. We ask all this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen Respectfully submitted by LeTonya (BHMS PTSA)

dear Natalie,
When I think of you, I hear your laugh first. You have a wonderful laugh, a laugh that draws in others and is inspiring to hear, a laugh that speaks volumes about your strength of character. My memories of summer are punctuated by the sound of you laughing; walking into the calm of a cooled house and hearing you talking with your family, and laughing, strong and gleeful. Often, you have said something so true, so poignant, and so unexpected, and you are laughing at the audacity of it. Unlike many people, you are excellent at remaining unbowed by external pressures. You have a strength, a backbone, and a courage that few people will ever dream of having.
There is something in you that is bubbly and alive and thrilling, and uniquely you.---We adore you.
Happy birthday, and much love,
Amber
